Just when I started to feel that many of the bridal collections this year (while all absolutley beautiful!) seemed a bit safe, traditional and sometimes a little too sweet at times...I walked into the Houghton Bride studio in NYC to find the unexpected edge that I was hoping to see from this quirky label.
In a chic industrial space in NYC (also home by day to a very cute English Bulldog called Jonesy, owned by designer Katharine Polk!) Houghton Bride presented a stunning collection of dresses, skirts and tailored suits created for the bride who wants to get married in something simple, sexy and timeless.
Featuring midriff tops in long sleeved lace, full skirts, chic tailored trousers and chiffon blouses, floor skimming dresses French giupure lace, hand embroidered sheer silks... this collection definitely stood out for me, and I think designer Katharine Polk perfectly grasped the concept that girls these days want to look chic and timeless on their wedding day in a dress that doesn't necessarily feel like a traditional 'bridal' gown and suits her personal style.
