There’s a moody allure we love about the way photographers Joel & Justyna capture romantic, honest moments. Describing themselves as thoughtful observers, their images are rich in detail, drenched in light and filled with poetic movement.
We caught up this international photography duo, based in Canada, to find out 3 important things you shouldn’t overlook, when it comes to wedding photography.
The most underrated but important piece of decor in a room, believe it or not are chairs. Chairs set a tone, more so than centrepieces, simply because there are so many in a room. If you're working with a tighter budget but still want an elegant feel to your decor, rent a set of beautiful chairs and opt for more modest centrepieces – like a selection of candles in hurricane vases at different heights.
2. Getting ready locations
Picking a photogenic location to get ready is often times overlooked. Instead of choosing a stark, modern hotel suite or cluttered relatives home, we often suggest a heritage hotel, or an Airbnb with antique features. Classic never goes out of style and dark, window lit spaces with interesting antique decor will stand the test of time in your photos.
A great way to create dynamic images of your recessional is to have your guests throw confetti or rose petals, as you and your spouse run off down the aisle.
