Think of red carpet glamour and Reem Acra instantly comes to mind. Synonymous with detailed beadwork, hand embroidery and luxurious embellishment adorned on ultra feminine dresses and modern silhouettes, we are forever inspired the opulent, yet edgy mood evoked by Reem’s designs.
With Spring 2015, as always the modern girl was at the forefront of Reem’s design sensibility, which she translated with a 24-piece collection that channeled 4 different bridal styles (trendy, classic, sexy, and timeless). This meant a lot more silhouettes and fabrics than we expected were at play to evoke an overall mood of glamourous extravagance. Think duchess satin for a more classic bride and floaty tulle skirts for ethereal romance.
What stood out for The LANE was the craftsmanship and the detail orientation that the collection took, with elaborate structured ruffles, cascading layers of chiffon, decadent hand embroidery and embellishment, and fitted and flared silhouettes cut perfectly for the female form.
While we loved seeing the introduction of some unexpected designs and experimentation with the combination of different details, at times we felt the mix didn’t quite create an effortless aesthetic which we know The LANE readers are on the look out for.
To give the glamourous extravagance an edge of untamed beauty, our favourite look was a plunge neck beaded re-embroidered lace dress with the incredible scallop detail. Fusing glamourous, feminine and bohemian elements together, it is the perfect dress for The LANE bride. Wear it against sun kissed, dancing barefoot on the sand.
