Real Wedding: Kelly & Taylor

HOW WE MET: After returning home from interstate for work, I came home to a new neighbour in our apartment complex…Taylor. I would often hear him singing in the shower whilst I got ready for work, and he would often smell the candles I would burn which would waft downstairs. Apparently Taylor came up the stairs three times before he had the courage to knock on my door…after a coffee date on the Strand (Townsville) the rest is history.

OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY: Taylor was deployed to Afghanistan for several months and was afforded a mid way respite holiday, which I met him in Rome. After a very emotional reunion in Rome, we caught the train down to the Amalfi Coast and stayed for 10 days in Praiano. Taylor organised for a private cruiser, with our very own skipper (a Gerard Depardieu lookalike!) called who took us along the Amafi coast, whilst stopping for wine, lunch and spontaneous dips in the warm, aqua water. After a relaxing swim, we climbed back on board the boat and sat on the bow as the sunset and we sailed home. Taylor ducked down into the cabin and came back with a box and proposed right there and then on the bow of the boat. It was the most magical proposal I could have ever imagined. For the rest of our time we drank lemon mojitos, swam, soaked up the sun and ambled down narrow cobbled streets through Positano and Praiano…truly a holiday and memories that we will never let fade.

MARRIAGE TO US MEANS: Remaining honest, staying open to learning and growing together and making the most out of life by never holding back.

(Interview continues under gallery...)

WEDDING LOCATION: Ceremony – The Secret Garden, Cottesloe & Reception – Indiana, Cottesloe. We wanted an outdoor summer wedding with a  relaxed bohemian vibe. The limestone garden staircase proved a perfect backdrop for us to exchange our vows. Indiana encapsulated our love of being near the ocean, exuded a relaxed bohemian vibe and fitted our style perfectly.

THEME/STYLE: Sun, laughter, daisies and a bohemian vibe with a dash of style.

BUDGET: Our total wedding costs were approx $30,000.

PHOTOGRAPHY: As soon as I met Jemma Keech I knew she was the one. If I had ever had one, she would be like a third sister! Her photographs capture light and exude glow…capturing moments of laughter and kisses…and her eye for detail ensures all the little moments such as vases, buttonholes and table settings are captured and timeless.

WEDDING PLANNER/ STYLIST: I chose and organised all the aspects of the wedding and reception myself…after hours of browsing Pinterest, scouring bridal magazines and exploring various websites..I formulated my own style and on the day, it all came together, exactly how I had imagined. I loved expressing creativity and creating an atmosphere that everyone would enjoy and talk about for hopefully many years to come.

ONE THING I WISH I KNEW BEFORE I STARTED MY WEDDING PLANS: In the days leading up to the wedding, I fleetlingly considered with all the preparations still incomplete…maybe we should have eloped!
