Watercolour Calligraphy
Watercolour Calligraphy

In the same expressive style of new wave of calligraphy we love, (and particularly perfect for ocean inspired Summer weddings), we're enchanted recently by the dreamy markings of watercolour calligraphy. A beautiful alternative to tradition black inks, these washes of colour offer a lighter touch for stationery, whilst retaining a beautifully bohemian, freehand style looseness.

Brushstrokes of transparent inks, in a complete spectrum of gouache pigments offer elegantly subtle nuances and gradations of colour, with letters dipping in and out of opacity. Painted individually, guests will appreciate the hand touched quality and the particularly beautiful paper textures often suited to working with a wet medium. We imagine these stationery suits setting the tone for a dreamy seaside wedding, or a wild garden gathering - their expressive, loose markings perfectly mirroring the mood of the event to come.

Besides invitations, we love the idea of menus or guests placecards, executed in a watercolour palette complementary to reception styling and your floral colour palette. Equally inspired by the contemporary artists penning beautiful quotes in watery brushstrokes, consider having a favourite reading, piece of poetry, or your vows created as a custom artwork for your spouse (or as the perfect first year wedding anniversary gift, being paper!).
