About Giuseppe Marano

It’s a mysterious alchemy, always different, which makes me look for timeless and weightless pictures: that’s what leads me to meet people who choose my art to write the diary of their memories. As well as reading a history and delving into it; looking for the unconscious step which led two people to that precise and unrepeatable moment. Catching a gesture, a look, which tells a love and crosses its history. Available for travel worldwide.

Behind The Brand

How would you describe your photography style?

I graduated in humanities and I have always been passionate about documentary photography, especially in long term photographic projects. My style is a direct emanation of both my cultural substrate and my interests. If I have to resume it in 3 words: documentary, intimate, editorial.

What is it that makes an image magical?

I believe that an image becomes magical when you are able to capture something authentic. A place, a person, an emotion.

What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?

Consistently with my documentary approach, I always invite people to focus on themselves and on their authentic peculiar intimacy with the other. My way of making people feel comfortable in front of the camera is letting them understand that I have no specific expectations of them.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

I’m based in Rome, but I regularly travel internationally to shoot on commission. Over the past years I have been working in Australia, Africa, USA and all around Europe.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

I usually deliver a first private gallery in about 1 month, with a selection of my best and most evocative images. The full wedding is delivered in about 4 months.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…

One among many indeed – the end of the ceremony during Chelsea and Justin’s wedding in Marrakech. The golden light of sunset over the dreamy opulence of the Amanjena, lots of beautiful people gathered from all corners of the world, a sense of intimate connection to that place and that moment. A deep and overwhelming sense of personal fulfillment.
