Cascading lace and embroided sylvan motifs with dramatic bell sleeves, the Odylyne The Ceremony gown coined 'The Alyse', a namesake inspired by Alyse and Robbie’s bohemian celebration..
Desert dreamscapes and effortless bohemia in the form of wildflowers and romantic details, the ceremony unfolded in a private Californian winery, effortlessly transforming into a reception space. Rustic tablescapes spilled with desert blooms and inclusions of gilded tableware..

NAMES: Alyse Wysocki Pickard & Robbie Pickard
WEDDING DATE: September 4th, 2015
GUEST NUMBERS: 155
HOW WE MET: We met through mutual friends in Santa Monica. Robbie’s roommate was into my roommate, and he dragged Robbie to a party at our place as his wingman. We started texting each other the next day, and never really stopped.
OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY: We were on a tiny island off of Bali called Gili- no cars, just donkeys and carriages. We got engaged just after sunset, while drinking beers and sitting on bean bags on the beach.
MARRIAGE TO US MEANS: That each other’s happiness, success and fulfillment in life is just as important as our own. We’re always on the same team, no matter what life throws at us.
WEDDING LOCATION: Sunstone Winery in Santa Ynez. The ceremony was in the courtyard and the reception was on the lawn. After hours was in the stone wine cave.
THEME/STYLE: Romantic, bohemian. Lots of candles, rugs, and flowers.
(Interview continued beneath gallery)
BRIDE’S DRESS: My dress was by Odylyne the Ceremony. Stephanie at Odylyne helped me make my dream dress. It was an ivory floral embroidered lace dress. With bell sleeves and a built in silk satin slip. It ended up going into her line as the “Alyse dress.”
BRIDE'S SHOES: 70’s inspired platforms in nude suede.
BRIDESMAID’S SHOES: All their own.
FLOWERGIRLS/PAGEBOY OUTFITS: Flowergirl dresses were by Tea Princess. They were all a little different and they looked so cute stomping down the aisle in them.
WEDDING RINGS: My engagment ring is a rose cut diamond with flower shaped halo set it yellow gold, and my wedding band is gold with small diamonds placed randomly throughout. Robbie has a simple gold band with an infinity symbol and our wedding date engraved inside.
JEWELRY/ ACCESSORIES: One of my bridesmaids is a fashion stylist and snagged me some gold and diamond jewelry to borrow for the day. I had a diamond ear climber, two dainty gold necklaces and a couple of diamond and emerald pave rings—I was really lucky!
GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: They wore suits in black, navy and dark gray.
HAIR: I wore my hair down and wavy with the front twisted back. Robbie always likes when I wear my hair half back. He jokingly said it was his only request for the weddding, so that’s what I did!
MAKEUP: I went for super natural makeup.
STATIONERY/INVITATIONS: Our save the dates looked like a Califonia postcard and our invites had an indigo dip dye at the bottom like all of the napkins at the tables. There were greenery mofits in watercolor on them as well. The invites were wrapped in twine with dried flowers tied to them.
FAVORS/BONBONNIERE: Our family friends own a candle business called Cameos & Crowns, and they made us candles as our wedding favors with our names and wedding date on them. We chose scents that reminded us of Santa Ynez: lavender, thyme, sage.
FLOWERS & BOUQUETS: My bouquet was big and bushy. It was wild with dhalia, blue thistle, protea, and a mix of other flowers. The bridesmaids bouquets were also pretty organic and each one a little different than the next. All the bouquets had long, raw silk ribbon hanging from them.
VIDEOGRAPHY: Having SharkPig as our videographer was the first wedding decision we made (after seeing their videos online). Wade Koch of SharkPig did our wedding video and it was the best decision we made! He and our photographer were super easy going and relaxed so it was easy for us to be ourselves, too.
PREPARATION: I got ready at a house in Santa Ynez where all the bridesmaids were staying for the weekend. Both our moms and sisters were getting ready there as well. I gave them presents while we were getting ready and I scarfed down a sandwich in between hair and makeup. It was all pretty casual. Robbie got ready at the hotel with his parents and then drank whiskey in the wine cave at Sunstone with his groomsmen before the ceremony. While he was doing that I was upstairs hiding from him, putting on my dress on and drinking roséwith my bridesmaids.
CEREMONY DÉCOR/ RECEPTION DÉCOR: We had indigo dip-dyed napkins, gold flatware, lots of candles and flowers, bistro lights, wood tables, a rug for the dance floor and rugs for the aisle as well.
CAKE: My friend Allie baked our cake! It was carrot cake, and it’s my favorite cake ever.
WEDDING SONGS: I walked down the aisle to “Sweet Thing” by Van Morrison, played live by our talented friend Keith. Recession song was “Everlasting Light” by The Black Keys, and our first dance was Van Morrison “Days like This.”
ENTERTAINMENT: We had live music for the walk down the aisle and a DJ for the rest of the night. We told him our favorite Pandora stations and what we generally liked and he did a perfect job.
FOOD & BEVERAGES: We had charcuterie for cocktail hour, then pasta, chicken, steak and sides for the sit down dinner. We served beer, wine, champagne and a blackberry thyme champagne cocktail.
TRANSPORT: We had a big black school bus for transportation. It had our wedding hashtag on it, #iPickardYou, along with some other lines. The lettering got turned around by the end of the night to say all kinds of things…
HONEYMOON: We traveled around Spain—Barcelona, San Sebastian and Mallorca. Loved them all in different ways, but Mallorca might be our favorite.
GIFT REGISTRY: One of my favorite gifts was a polaroid camera from a bridesmaid. We used it on the wedding day while getting ready, the rest of the wedding weekend, and on our honeymoon.
CELEBRANT: Dusty Hoesly, who was excellent and easy going.
READINGS: We researched all the different kinds of ceremonies out there, and picked a few things that felt right for us. Once we had that down, Robbie wrote the script for our celebrant to recite, and we both wrote our own vows. We also did a hand fasting, and have the ribbons from that portion of the ceremony hanging in our bedroom. My favorite quote from our ceremony was: “For always you hold in your own hands the fate of this union. Above you are stars and below you is earth. Like stars, your love should be a constant source of light, and like the earth, a firm foundation from which to grow.”
ANY OTHER SPECIAL DETAILS:
A MEMORABLE MOMENT: My dad was really nervous before the ceremony began, and was chugging red wine. Right before the doors opened for us to walk down the aisle, he realized his fly was down and quickly zipped it up! The ensuing laughter helped us all relax a little.
ONE THING I WISH I KNEW BEFORE I STARTED MY WEDDING PLANS… You can never start planning too ealry. Bang it out so you have time to relax before!
IF I COULD GIVE OTHER BRIDES TO BE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE… Enjoy it. Don’t spend more money than you need to. There will be a lot of opinions and other people telling you what they think you should do. Go with your gut.
