Adorned in a lace, long sleeved Pucci gown & surrounded by wildflowers, designer Kristie Kahler (the talent behind Winston Wolfe ) & Mitch Coleborn exchanged vows against the breathtaking backdrop of Maleny hinterland on the Sunshine Coast, QLD.

Two giant tipi tents set the tone for a wildly bohemian reception accented with Moroccan cushions, hand picked blooms, fresh foliage and fire pits for warmth. Beautifully documenting each spirited moment of this festival inspired celebration were Love From Us...

NAMES: Kristie Kahler & Mitch Coleborn

WEDDING DATE: 29 May 2015

HOW WE MET: This is debateable, depending on who you ask!

Mitch : We met New Years Eve , while we were both in Highschool (Kristie was 14).

Kristie : We met BEFORE this, while I had a boyfriend and we were at late night shopping, and Mitch was flirting with me!

OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY:  I was in Bali for work and Mitch flew in last minute. We had a villa and were just laying by the pool being silly. When I looked up Mitch was on one knee. It was the most special moment, so us. We like to keep things personal!

MARRIAGE TO US MEANS: We both really want to start a family. I think being married is such an amazing feeling and really has made us fall in love all over again.

WEDDING LOCATION: After 101 ideas, and way too many pinterest sessions, we chose Maleny Manor as our location. It is the most incredible location in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. We are both born and raised on the Sunshine Coast, so we really wanted this to be our location. Maleny Manor has the most incredible view, you can see the entire coast line. I really wanted to have the whole wedding in 1 place, and the Manor had everything we could have wished for (even accommodation!).

(Interview continued under Gallery...)

THEME/STYLE: I always wanted to be married in a garden, so after searching for the perfect garden, I realized that it was never going to happen! I ended up deciding on a romantic, garden party / festival vibe. It organically came across really gyspset and perfect. I had been collecting a lot of the décor for month’s prior and gave it to my amazing stylists. The biggest thing for me were the floral design, as that was going to give me my garden vibe.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Mitch and I really don’t like the traditional wedding photography. We have always hated how long we have had to wait at our friend's weddings while they are off taking photos for hours. We had a strict 30 minute time frame after the ceremony, and WOW did our photographer's ( Love From Us ) do an amazing job! I wanted everything to be really natural, and for our photographer to capture what was happening spontaneously.

BRIDE’S DRESS: As a designer, I had an exact idea of what I wanted to wear. I knew what, when and where I had seen it, it was just getting my hands on the damn thing! I am the BEST ebay & online searcher, and can find ANYTHING! So of course, I found my Pucci dress. Relatively quickly too. There was never a doubt in my mind if it would be okay or not. The day I picked it up it was love at first sight. It fit like a glove!

BRIDE’S SHOES: Aquazzura peep-toe cut out booties. Then I jumped into a pair of Chloe boots for the party.

BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES: I’m so lucky that my two amazing friends have a beautiful clothing line in Los Angeles called Stone Cold Fox, and the girls all wore different styles to match their personalities made from the same fabric. They all looked amazing.

BRIDESMAID’S SHOES: The girls chose a simple black strap from Tony Bianco.

FLOWERGIRLS/PAGEBOY OUTFITS: The flower girls are our neices, and are half balinese. They have the most incredible skin, so I got away with putting them in black. They wore Black TuTu Du Monde dress’s with black leggings and converse.

WEDDING RINGS: I had my ring made from the same jeweller who made my engagement ring with Mitch – Nicholas Haywood. Mitch had 3 rings made!!! SO FUSSY, but he decided on his first choice by a good friend of his – Gradey Archbold from Younger Young.

JEWELLERY/ACCESSORIES: I wore little star and moon earrings that were a gift from Mitch. I wore some vintage sapphire rings that my dad gave to my mum when they were 16.

GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: The boys all wore customised suits by VOLCOM.

HAIR:I kept my hair so simple. I literally washed it and let it dry, with my veil.

MAKEUP: My make up was really clean and natural. I don’t wear a lot of make up, so I really wanted it natural for the day. A little bronzer and lashes and we were done.

STATIONERY/INVITATIONS: I chose really simple Save the Dates from Etsy and the same wedding invitations to follow.. (we were SO hopeless & pratically text everyone the wedding details)

FAVORS/BONBONNIERE: Our gift was a good hangover!

FLOWERS & BOUQUETS: I chose wild daisy's as my bouquets (it shocked me too!). Things just start to get so expensive planning a wedding and I really wanted the flowers to be full and over flowing so I had to choose something inexpensive. The flowers, from Mondo Floral Designs for the ceremony ran down the isle and really made the final touch. The flowers through out the reception consisted of lots of foliage, it helped keep the garden vibe going, and the budget down.

VIDEOGRAPHY: I havent seen our film yet!

PREPARATION: I took my girls out to dinner to my favourite restaurant the night before, we drank lots of rose and laughed all night. We stayed at our house the night before and got ready there the next morning. All of our guests were staying in noosa as we had a 2 day event, so my dad threw us a big cocktail party the next day at his house. The boys stayed in Noosa the night before the wedding.

CEREMONY DÉCOR/ RECEPTION DÉCOR: Our ceremony was outside on a hill, with the most incredible view behind us. I wanted the view to be the main focus. We had wild flowers running the isle and that was it.

I chose and designed every part of the reception. My poor stylists must have been happy to see the end of me! I’m so hands on so I enjoyed this a lot. We hired 2 big teepees from TIPI LUXE, and had them out on the lawn at the manor, they really set the whole vibe. Lots of fire pits and morrocan coushions everywhere. We had lots of adorable sections and it looked amazing.

WEDDING PLANNER/ WEDDING STYLIST: I did all the planning myself, and I chose Love Bird Weddings to help with the styling.

CAKE: A friend of ours opened a café near us and his partner found out she has the most incredible knack for making cakes and treats. We started designing the cake, and made a dessert table of mini versions of the cake, and nutella stuffed donuts. Our cake was salted caramel and brownie.

WEDDING SONGS: My bridesmaids walked down to You're So Cool –by Hans Zimmer (out of True Romance which is our favourite movie). I walked down the isle to Never Tear Us Apart, by INXS. And when then when the ceremony was finshed we walked out to Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.

ENTERTAINMENT: We had a  DJ play a bunch of old new and cool music. It was awesome.

FOOD & BEVERAGES: We chose different styles of Festival food and Alcohol was everything!

TRANSPORT: The girls and I arrived in Range Rovers. Mitch and the Boys caught a cab. We had buses pick all of our guests up from Noosa. Mitch and I caught the bus back with our guests at the end of the night, it was so fun!

HONEYMOON: We havent been on a honeymoon yet. But we are in California for work next week and are going to New York for a few days and that is going to be our honeymoon. I am so excited!

GIFT REGISTRY: We had a wishing well.

CELEBRANT: Our celebrant was Jarrad Bayliss. I found it really hard to find a celebrant I liked because there were a lot of old ladies that were just not my vibe. When I met Jarrad I knew he was perfect. He is funny and the best thing is he stands to the side of the ceremony so he isn't in all the photos!

READINGS: Mitch and I wrote our own vows (wow.. it is so hard!)

SOURCES OF INSPIRATION: I had a really good idea of what I wanted, and I wanted the outdoors to play a big part. But Pinterest is pretty dangerous!

A MEMORABLE MOMENT: Our vows were amazing. And when we were getting our photos taken as the sun was going down, it was amazing.

ONE THING I WISH I KNEW BEFORE I STARTED MY WEDDING PLANS… Nothing is ever the end of the world. I stayed really calm the entire time and just tried to remember what is all about, and that was Mitch and I.

IF I COULD GIVE OTHER BRIDES TO BE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE…Stay calm. Enjoy every moment. Don’t drink to much on the night, and take a moment with your husband and look at the beautiful night you have organised. All your nearest & dearest are there and it really is just a big bubble of love!
