In an already beautiful setting, the most stunningly styled garden ceremonies should feel like an effortless extension of their surroundings. Spectacular, yes, but contrived? No. (We find the penchant for arranging vintage books, doors and typewriters in the middle of a field endlessly bizarre!). Instead of props, draw upon an abundance of fresh flowers, branches, fronds and botanical ephemera, artfully arranged in styling that feels both unexpected, yet uncomplicated.
In its simplest incarnation, this may mean blanketing an entire aisle in a thick carpet of petals, or lining each side with cut branches (we love sculptural magnolia or blossom). However for something more dramatic, engage a florist to create a ‘wildly growing’ aisle.
Creating a spectacular framing device, think lush fronds of ferns, tall plumes of foxglove and pampas grass or the romance of wild roses (imagine the perfume!). Pair with a naturally styled ‘growing’ arbour or semi-circular space in which to exchange vows, at the aisles end.
