Food Styling Trend: Rose Cocktails

There’s sophisticated elegance to weddings and events that consider the theme and styling right down to the food and beverages served. Evoking sweet floral scents and creating a romantically refined mood, we’re in love with blush rose cocktails infused with the delicate petals of these velvety blooms.

Serve out of martini glasses or short tumblers for more of a grown up elegance and to avoid the mood becoming overly sweet create styling contrast with raw textures (like a weathered timber bar) and tarnish antique trays.

Light and refreshing, rose is the perfect essence for summer cocktails at an outdoor garden reception. From rose syrup, rose water to rose infused gin the variations for cocktail creations are endless. Adam and Anika from The Canavan (a Byron Bay based mobile bar available for hire for weddings and events) are always on the lookout for simple crowd pleasers that also look visually beautiful and work with the wedding theme! A romantic, more grown-up take on the traditional lemon variety, this White Peach and Rose Lemonade (with a splash of alcohol) is the perfect summer wedding drink: sweet, floral, and with a bit of tarty bite, The Canavan suggest serving this to guests as a welcome drink or post-ceremony thirst quencher.

White Peach and Rose Lemonade
Ingredients:
3 cups white peaches, chopped into pieces
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (from about 7 lemons)
3/4 cup sugar
4 tablespoons rose water
10 shots (300mL) of good quality Gin

Directions:
Place chopped peaches, water and sugar in a heavy bottomed sauce pan over medium heat.  Allow to cook down, about 20 minutes.  Set aside to cool slightly, then run through a blender until pureed.  Pour peach mixture through a fine sieve and place place in refrigerator until chilled.  Meanwhile, squeeze the juice from lemons.  Once peach mixture has chilled in a pitcher combine with gin, lemon juice and rose water.  Serve chilled over plenty of ice.

Makes 20 drinks.
