Watercolour Washes

Watercolour Washes
Watercolour Washes

Dreamy washes of watercolour across paper are one of our favourite non-literal hints of watery moods or seaside celebrations to come. In both the subtlest and sheerest tints or more dramatic inky statements, the translucent, cloud like markings and gentle bleeding together of colours offer a stunning base for fluid fonts.

Not just for waterside weddings, we love the gentle femininity of pale pinks and blush tones (almost an abstract floral) or the serene neutrality of silvers and greys for lovers of monochrome. Washes of blues and indigos naturally lend themselves to an oceanic mood while deeper dips of navy (perhaps flecked with gold) are more celestial in spirit and offer the perfect announcement of evening celebrations.

For a free spirited and entirely hand penned approach, pair with fluid calligraphy or gently undulating text with raw deckled edges. Alternatively, the mix of smooth paper stock and a fine, printed script over washes of marbled ink provides a beautifully bold juxtaposition and unexpected pairing.
