Cinematic Sequences
Cinematic Sequences

Admittedly, the very words wedding video have some dubious connotations attached, however working within the wedding industry, we’re fortunate enough to know much better! Collaborating with, and unearthing the work of extraordinarily talented creatives, we’re forever inspired by those producing unbelievably beautiful bodies of work, the kinds of films that captivate and tell stories of the couples they document organically, and completely unexpectedly.

Also looking to the world of film and cinema as a constant source of inspiration and influence drawn from beyond the realm of weddings, we’re particularly inspired by directors who approach sequencing and storytelling in a non-sequential (Tarantino-esq) manner. Besides offering an unusual take on wedding videography, fittingly, it allows for the kind of narrative that holds you emotively captive from the very first scene.

The signature style of one of our favourite wedding videographers, & creative collaborators, we asked Joseph (Joey) Willis about his approach to making films in this way…“My process really starts on the wedding day, and when I arrive - thats when I come up with the concept of how I am going to make the film… While I am shooting I have the music track I am going to use in the back of my head, so I am kind of shooting to the song…and I decide how I am going to edit it, and in what order, as the day unfolds.”

Settle in for three extraordinary wedding films captured by Joey, told unexpectedly ‘out of sequence’, in the gallery below. Also find a complete list of our favourite LANE Videographers - located all around the globe - here
