Infinite Moments

— Videography Inspiratioin

"and in that moment, i swear, we were infinite"

Nothing distills our emotion or captivates us quite so powerfully, so poignantly as a story revealed in slow motion, told frame by frame, unfolding in suspended, perfect clarity.

Some of the most beautiful cinematic moments captured in immaculate detail - think a slowed, dramatic sequence of tumbling waves or the ethereal movement of fabric billowing - are most likely attributed to Red Camera photography, relatively recent technology that has changed the face of film.

Cinematic in quality and evoking the emotion often awakened by moments slowed down in time, the dramatic beauty of a scene revealed frame by frame, or the unrivalled clarity of real time footage seen in extraordinarily high resolution…this is the kind of magic made possible with a Red Camera & a select few extremely talented videographers.

Based on the RAW file capture of digital SLR's, but capturing hundreds of frames per second, versus the traditional film and playback rate of 24 frames per second, these high speed cameras create narratives of dramatic and beautiful storytelling. Think cinematic sequences in which raindrops are seen falling individually, or action scenes captured in the highest definition, whose motion is slowed to an unmistakable depth and never before seen detail.

High speed photography, long utilised in the arenas of science and defence, before being adopted for creative pursuits like film, has captivated us with the extraordinary possibilities such technology can offer wedding day videography. Imagine revealing and immortalising the most fleeting of moments, of sequences and details ordinarily (literally) blinked and missed. Expressions of euphoria slowly spreading across faces, thrown petals slowly falling one by one from the sky, the trail of a skirt, mid swing, mid dance, whose motion is extended and drawn out…

We've put together some of our favourite examples in the gallery below including work from Lester and May, (videographers handpicked for The LANE who utilise a red camera, creating films of creativity and elegance), as well as some of our favourite fashion films...
