I love standing tall with people who are making this momentous life decision, and I’m honoured to share such a big moment with them. I love taking the time to get to know my couples and to provide the perfect, specialised ceremony that's just right for them. I’m friendly and welcoming and interested in hearing about your life as a couple and the reasons why you love each other. This helps me deliver a special and completely unique service that not only both of you will cherish, but that all your guests will remember too.

Your best piece of advice for event planning?

If I was helping one of my besties plan a wedding, I would say to try to really sit down and think about what’s important to you? What makes you happy? What will make your wedding the best day it can be for you and your partner? Is it good food? Amazing music? A heartfelt and emotional ceremony?Think about what’s truly representative of your life together and then try to find that in your vendors. If you can afford a planner – especially if it’s a destination wedding – do it. My husband and I did a DIY wedding, and whilst it was amazing, it meant we had a lot to focus on around the event from setting it all up to breaking it all down. Use professionals where you can – especially photographers.

What was the spark for Modern Love Ceremonies? Where did the story begin?

I was an actor and a voice over artist before I became a celebrant, so I have brought all those skills with me into this career, but the reason I started out as a celebrant, was because my sister asked me to become a celebrant to help her get married.

I only performed ceremonies for my friends and family for the first few years, as we lived in Sydney and we were running a business, and my hands were full. When we moved to Byron Bay, I was suddenly unemployed, and that’s where things really took off for me and the brand of Modern Love Ceremonies.

Most memorable place you’ve travelled?

One of the most memorable places I’ve been was a family holiday to Tahiti. Such incredible beaches and surf spots, and friendly locals. We have friends on Moorea who have a little cabin in an abandoned resort and we had a magical week swimming in the sea, greeting manta rays every morning and night and taking things really slow.

We also recently spent a week in a campervan in New Zealand, and whilst it was a little hectic at times with three kids, the memories we made will last a lifetime.

On a typical weekend we’ll find you?

At weddings! Or at the beach or pottering at home on a Sunday.
