About A La Robe

Designed by Elizabeth Soljak, who relocated from New Zealand to the french countryside in 2016. Her inspiration is drawn from the vintage archives of Parisienne couturiers who design for effortlessly chic women.
A La Robe specialise in the bias cut, all their gowns are individually cut and made using only silk and other handmade fabrics specially sourced from around the globe.
"Our bride has a simple, romantic elegance and an individual edge. She's not afraid to be herself, and always remembers it's about love."

Behind The Brand

Describe the woman you design for…

The woman I design for is modern and romantic.

What is your most popular piece?

Our most popular piece is the low V back Juliette gown, it’s the perfect bias cut dress for brides who want simple elegance.

What advice would you give to brides-to-be?

Remember it’s about the LOVE.

As a designer, what tips do you have for brides to get the most out of their fittings?

Get the right underwear!

Do you offer a custom design service for brides? If so, how long does it take to make a custom piece?

No, but our amazing stockists can recommend small bespoke changes if necessary.

What advice do you give to brides to care for their gown?

HAND WASH! All our gowns are silk and pre-shrunk…olive oil soap and warm water gets rid of most dirt. Also, don’t wear chemical deodorant as it marks the silk, sweat doesn’t.
