Behind The Brand
Your best advice for event planning?
Create a bespoke pairing menu that couples beverages with dining options, and includes tasting notes and product origin information, for a memorable taste experience.
What was the spark for Axel Vodka? Where did the story begin?
I was inspired by my great-grandfather as he had a distillery on an island in the Kornati, in the Adriatic Sea of Croatia. I started my company with the vision of creating a wholly sustainable, luxury Australian beverage with a focus on sourcing locally, and giving back.
What inspires you creatively?
The local landscapes and produce of the South Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. The artwork that I designed on the front of the 700mL Axel Vodka bottle is inspired by the escarpment and coastline, and our vodka is sustainably distilled from New South Wales wheat and uses purified water from the South Coast.
Most memorable place you’ve travelled?
Tahiti. I visited the island with my mother and sister, where we were invited to stay with a local family who took us out on their boat to atolls in the middle of the ocean, taught us how to cook Tahitian recipes and allowed us to take part in a traditional dance class held for local women of the island.
On a typical weekend we’ll find you?
Spending time with family and friends at my home on the South Coast of New South Wales.
