About Casa Chavela
This was the last residence of the great singer Chavela Vargas from 2007 until her death in August 2012. She was one of the most influential voices in Latin American music.
"Everyone dreams of Mexico. It's Mexico that attracts music. I dreamed of a paradise called Mexico." - Chavela Vargas
Casa Chavela's restoration began in 2019, using local materials to preserve the original elements and essence of the architecture. Today, Casa Chavela serves as an event garden for weddings and cultural events, an artist residency, and a guesthouse. It offers a stay surrounded by nature, art, and stunning mountain views.
Behind The Brand
What was the initial spark for the property and how did it all begin?
The main goal was to rescue the history of the place and the story of the great artist who lived here. The house was restored based on old photographs and interviews conducted with people who knew her at that time. Each space was designed drawing inspiration from the 60s and 70s, with art and decoration carefully selected to highlight the minimalist style of that era, while also incorporating Mexican elements and local materials that together create bohemian and cozy spaces.
Vegetation plays a very important role in the venue. All existing plants were preserved, and many more were integrated to create beautiful green environments that blend with the mountain view, making you feel like you’re in a botanical garden due to the wide variety of species.
Personalized attention makes you feel like you’re arriving home to family and friends, reflecting the owners main goal.

We also have a balcony above the esplanade, which offers a unique view of the mountain and the surroundings of the garden. This space has been used for intimate ceremonies or small gatherings. The couples love to take photos here.
