About Chloe May

Chloe's work is about capturing moments between people, holding a certain feeling that is forever remembered through the photograph. The beauty of natural light and the feelings it can evoke is paramount to her in capturing the day.

She loves the raw, the unplanned and the unposed. Every story is personal and unique.

Behind The Brand

How would you describe your photography style?

My style is very laid back and non-intrusive. I take a journalistic approach to documenting the day, whilst at the same time making sure that my bride and groom look and feel as good as possible.

What is it that makes an image magical?

When the lighting is perfect and the couple is feeling that euphoria that comes with marrying your love.

What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?

I always tell my couples that I’m just as shy in front of the camera. As a result, I’m very conscious about making sure they look and feel great, there are no expectations to look or be a certain way. I also tell my couples that this isn’t your average Tuesday – they’ve had their hair and makeup done, their dress and suit is looking amazing, and they’ll feel amazing after having just said ‘I do’. The love and happiness that shows through the photograph comes naturally, there’s no need to worry about it.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

I’m based in Melbourne and do travel both interstate and internationally.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

I deliver my first sneak peek photos within a day or two of the wedding, I get just as excited as the couple to see what’s come out of their day and love to share a few images with them soon after. The full gallery is then delivered within 6 to 8 weeks.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…

I absolutely love the energy of the dance floor. I’ve been so lucky to witness so many cultures and traditions come together in a day and when everyone is together on the dance floor, you really feel the vibe of the people you’ve been lucky enough to spend the day photographing. Whether it be Turkish drums or the Horah, those are the moments I really get swept away.
