About Joel Tronoff

I work quietly and inconspicuously, fading into the background so that I can capture the moments that are real and true and yours…no posing, no pushing, no parading. Just you.

For the past 4 years, I’ve been fortunate to travel the world telling the stories of beautiful couples and capturing once in a lifetime moments, to be relived and remembered for eternity.

Behind The Brand

Your best piece of advice for event planning?

The best piece of advice I can give for planning a wedding is to always keep in mind the most important factors; your fiancé, family and friends. Though it’s easy to get caught up in the small stuff and stress can build up very quickly, it’s imperative to focus on why you’re getting married. Finding your partner for life and celebrating the day with your most loved ones is a celebration, so it’s important to remember to have fun during the planning process and not just on the day.

What was the spark for Joel Tronoff Films? Where did the story begin?

In 2013 I filmed a family member’s wedding as a gift. Once it was posted online, it got some attention from engaged couples wanting a similarly styled video for their day. After a few more enquiries, I was able to leave my part-time job and start working fulltime for myself filming wedding videos.

What inspires you creatively?

I draw a lot of my creativity both from local cinematographers, and early filmmakers alike. Re-watching classic cinema can ignite my passion and teach so much about early techniques. As there are so many filmmakers bursting into the industry so regularly, I believe it’s so important to continue to learn and develop my style, pushing creative boundaries and challenging my own creativity.

Most memorable place you’ve travelled?

Mt Cook in New Zealand has to be hands down my favourite place I have ever visited. New Zealand holds a very special place in my heart as it was the first country I visited outside of Australia. I spent a few days hiking the trails around Mt Cook and fell in love instantly. The snow-covered mountains, flowing streams and wooden paths make for one of the most beautiful sights in the world. I tell everyone I know to see it at some point in their lives and you should too!

On a typical weekend we’ll find you?

If I’m not filming a wedding, you’ll find me playing golf, visiting New Farm park with friends or catching a local DJ at night.
