Your best pieces of advice for event planning?
Begin Early: Begin planning as soon as you possibly can. If your event is a large event you should realistically begin planning it four to six months in advance. Smaller events need at least one month to plan.
Be Available: Given the amount of money, time and energy spent planning events the clients like to talk and discuss. Hence, being available and ready to answer the client’s questions is an integral part of successful event planning and management.
Evolve: Just like the fashion industry the events business is prone to fads and to ensure the satisfaction of the guests one does need to stay updated about the latest trends and be able to evolve in line with the changing trends.
Remain Flexible: Over the course of planning the event, things are going to change. Whether it is event times, locations or even the type of event you’re hosting, you need to ensure that you’re flexible and can meet the changing demands.
Follow UP: Once the event is over, many organizers fall into a common pitfall – taking a break. While the logistics may be done it is important to be proactive in following up with attendees, be it over email or on social media, to demonstrate the success of the event.
What was the spark for La Pause? Where did the story begin?
La Pause was started by Frederic Alaime; a visionary and an adventurer in 2002. Mounted on a horse back Frederic found himself lost in the desert of Agafay on top of a rocky dune. While looking for a way out he found himself in the middle of an Oasis which today is La Pause. Not only did the creation of La Pause put Agafay desrert on the tourist circuit but it also led to the development of the local infrastructure while providing employment and education to the local community. La Pause is a sustainable concept in every sense – culturally, socially and ecologically.
What inspires you creatively?
Inspiration of La Pause derives from an internationally varied management team with each member brining along their own experiences and ideas in inclusion to Frederic’s vision of creating something extraordinary in an environment that might seem ordinary otherwise.
