Behind The Brand

How would you describe your photography style?

I always strive to let my couples feel completely at ease in front of my lens and be themselves, which leads to less posing so the images come out authentically! The moments in between, the emotions as they happen, that’s what I am looking for to capture. It’s what makes my style personal and organic. I want my couples to look back at their wedding pictures in 10 or 20 years and still have this excitement. That’s why I aim to capture everything in a timeless way.

What is it that makes an image magical?

When a couple is enjoying their big day and not worrying about someone taking photographs of them, it leads them to be present and in the moment. Pair this with amazing lighting and boom, that’s where the magic happens!

What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?

Let go and let me entertain you. I have no problem singing for my couples, dancing with them or talking about funny things so they easily forget that they are being photographed. I think it’s all about ‘unposing’ them. Working with them candidly and having fun. In my experience, the more I direct a pose, the stiffer it gets. The more I give them something to do and steer their focus away from the camera, the more relaxed they are.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

I am originally from Germany and hold a German passport, so I travel to Europe regularly. I am based in Arizona, but always welcome domestic travel as well as international weddings.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

A few days after the wedding day I deliver some sneak peeks to ease the wait! From the wedding day to photo delivery, it takes about 9-10 weeks.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…

Can I share one magical moment from each wedding? I know, that would take too much time. But there are really so many sweet moments. At a recent wedding, I photographed the bride with her grandfather, just a normal portrait. The bride couldn’t stop crying because of how much she loved and appreciated him. Especially during the Covid pandemic, I realized again how important those pictures are with your loved ones. It’s always a magical moment when raw emotions are happening, whether it is during a dance, a speech, walking down the aisle, or a moment in between.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

We love Lea’s chic and light-filled frames. They’re images that transcend both time and trend, and will be treasured long into the future by her couples.

For the couple…

Who seek frames that spill with elegance, natural light and are beautifully composed. Those who want to have fun and feel at complete ease with their photographer on their wedding day.

Editor’s tip…

Lea’s aesthetic complements styling steeped in modern romance. Consider a sculptural gown accessorized with refined jewels and pared-back beauty. For reception decor, incorporate a timeless colour palette like black, white and tonal neutrals and pair with florals that are sophisticated yet minimal.
