Behind The Brand
What draws you to wedding photography?
A wedding encompasses so many different elements, all carefully and personally brought together. I love the intensity: the powerful tears, the bright sunrays that complement the harsh shadows and create depth, the hearty laughter and warm hugs, culminating in exuberant dancing at the end of the day.
But I also cherish the softness and fragility: a meaningful glance, a gentle touch, a perfectly balanced table setting, the soft light that colors and fades landscapes. It is truly an honor to capture all these elements in images, so that these colors and moments do not fade into memories.
How would you describe your photography style?
We love building a genuine connection with the couple, their friends, and family. This way, we become part of the group, and the photos turn out much more spontaneous. Additionally, we enjoy capturing everything in detail: every moment, every detail, and as many people as possible. We relish the balance between taking artistic shots—playing with light and shadow—and creating images where the events themselves are so powerful that they speak for themselves.
We are passionate about documentary-style photos filled with emotion and strength, as well as more fashion-oriented images that exude elegance.
What inspires you creatively?
I have a deep passion for art, film, and fashion. Interior design is also an indispensable part of my life. I admire people who think outside the box, like fashion designer Iris Van Herpen, with whom I once interned. The films of Wong Kar Wai are unparalleled to me in terms of composition and color.
I love elegant lingerie design and have a gourmet taste that is inextricably linked to beautifully refined dish presentations. In short, everything in this world inspires me: elegant lines, balanced colors and textures, innovative use of materials, and the interplay of light and shadow.
What is it that makes an image magical?
For me, it can be two things:
Emotion: If an emotion is powerful and heartfelt, it will always hold a special place in a person’s heart. Emotions can be captured directly in an image, but it can also be that a certain image evokes an emotion from the viewer. That’s magical.
Light: I love natural light, when it shines hard or soft on a material, a face, it creates shadows, together they form shapes. If you capture that shape from an angle that captures the balance between those two elements, you can create magic.
What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?
Your wedding photographer will be present throughout the entire day or weekend, so choose someone who not only creates a connection with you but also with your family, children, and friends. It’s crucial to book someone who is flexible and attentive to your desires. A photographer who is willing to evolve with your day, offering tips and tricks from their extensive experience because experience is indeed vital, not just a little, but significantly so. A wedding day is unique and always changing, so as a photographer, you must be quick, cheerful, and have a passion for love…
Your dream location to shoot a wedding?
We’ve been fortunate enough to shoot in many places, from the mystical landscapes of Iceland to the vibrant streets of Cuba, the innovative cityscape of Dubai, and the character-filled countryside of Italy. From our hometown, the historic Bruges, to the glamorous cities of Paris and Saint Tropez… I aspire to explore as much of the world as possible and revel in all its beauty. South Africa, Australia, Amangiri in Utah, and Mexico are high on my wishlist.
Editor’s Notes
Why we love them…
Shadow and light. Expression and intimacy. All are transmuted into deeply emotional images through the lens of Carolina at Lux Visual Storytellers. We love the way she captures the pull between intensity and softness, those liminal moments that would otherwise slip through the cracks of memory.
For the couple…
Who want their love immortalized with classic execution and notions of poetic drama. Inspired by cinema, cuisine, interior design, and the delicacy of lingerie, Carolina offers her clients a decadent perspective, inextricably tethered to her love of beauty.
