Behind The Brand
How would you describe your photography style?
I would describe my style as romantic, dreamy and fun with an editorial touch.
What is it that makes an image magical?
For me, an image is magical if you can feel the moment, the pure joy, the love shared between the couple. We all want pictures to tell a story, so if the story touches you in your heart, then that is the real magic.
What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?
I am the kind of person that gets into the minds of the couple to help them overcome any shyness. I like to be upfront and talk about how the three of us can get the best result together.
I always ask my couples to throw all negative thoughts out the window and only let sweet and kind words come in. On your wedding day, you will shine bright, so it will be easier to think positively.
Do you travel interstate or internationally?
I love to explore the world and travel for weddings!
As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?
My editing process takes up to four weeks.
Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…
I have been part of so many magical moments during weddings, that is one of the reasons why I absolutely love my job. To witness a couple that has my heart, marry the person they love and then to celebrate it with their closest friends and family is pure magic. Every time I photograph a wedding I cry (secretly behind my camera) and laugh.
When I married my husband seven years ago, I wished for a job that would allow me to be part of many weddings because I loved it so much. A few years later I had a camera in my hand at a wedding and thought, “I am going to try this!”. I never had felt the ambition to become a photographer myself, yet here I am so grateful for the beautiful job that I have.
Why we love it…
Marilyn’s style of photography is elegantly poetic infused with honest emotion and editorial flair. A passionate storyteller, Marilyn’s earnest love for her craft spills from each and every frame.
For the couple…
Looking for exquisite imagery, but also to have fun and be at ease with their photographer.
Her versatility and candid approach allows for an array of aesthetic choices, whether classically sophisticated or relaxed and bohemian.
