About Mr & Mrs Smith

Mr & Mrs Smith (a nod to the classic check-in nom de plume for illicit stays of old) began life in 2003 as a guide book from two adventurous hotel lovers and has evolved into a global travel club with more than a million like-minded members.

Our carefully curated (and responsibly sourced) collection now includes hotels in the trees, hotels in caves, hotels above water, hotels underwater (well, partially), hotels a million miles away, hotels on your doorstep, hotels they’ve written books about and hotels you’ve never heard of.

Our work doesn’t stop with considered curation, mind. We ensure that our members receive the very best service, support and inspiration. It’s what makes us the travel club for hotel lovers. And if every club has a purpose, ours is to knock our members’ socks off – with help from the world’s very best bedrooms.

Behind The Brand

What was the initial inspiration for your collection of travel and honeymoon destinations, and how did it all begin?

At Mr & Mrs Smith, we specialise in extraordinary and unique properties all over the world. We created our honeymoon collection to offer couples something truly special – cool and romantic experiences without the clichéd petals and heart-shaped towels laid on the bed! The inspiration, concept and curation of this collection is drawn from wanting to provide newlyweds with a thoughtful range of trips and properties to suit any style of honeymoon, from bucket-list style safaris in Namibia to road trips in Southern Italy or minimoons that are closer to home. A personal favourite of mine in the collection is Passalacqua on Lake Como in Italy, a late 17th century villa in the most magical setting – it is beyond romantic.

How do your various destinations cater to different types of travel or honeymoon experiences?

We very much focus on curation and bespoke travel, crafting an array of experiences tailored to the discerning tastes of honeymooners. Adventure seekers can embark on escapades in exotic far-flung destinations, while those seeking cultural immersion can explore historic cities and rich traditions. Intimate and luxurious retreats are available for couples looking for a slower trip centred around romance and relaxation, while gourmet dining experiences await food enthusiasts. For the eco-conscious, sustainable hotels offer serene escapes in nature, many with local and community-based experiences as part of the stay.

What is it that makes each of your destinations unique and magical?

There’s a certain magic to a Mr & Mrs Smith hotel, a quality that transforms a stay into something quite extraordinary. Each hotel is a beguiling blend of unique design and captivating character, set within the context of remarkable locations that span picturesque coastlines to urban hubs. But it’s the personalised touches – from attentive service to tailored experiences – that truly set these properties apart. It’s almost as if they’ve bottled the secret to making you feel not just welcome, but celebrated. And isn’t that the essence of a truly memorable escape be it a holiday or a honeymoon?

How does your team ensure a seamless and memorable travel experience across all your destinations?

At the heart of Mr & Mrs Smith lies a dedicated team that expertly curates each property and crafts personalised journeys for guests. Our collective passion for uncovering unique hotels and local gems translates into unforgettable stays, enhanced by insider knowledge and exclusive experiences. Our concierge service is always on hand, ready to fulfil every whim, while a commitment to gathering feedback ensures the experience continues to evolve. It’s this blend of thoughtful touches and consistent dedication that creates a seamless, memorable, and truly unique travel experience.

What advice can you give to couples when selecting the perfect honeymoon or travel destination from your collection?

Choosing the perfect honeymoon destination from our collection is an exciting prospect, but it can also be a tad overwhelming. Firstly, consider your shared passions and interests. Are you fervent foodies, adventurous explorers, or sun-worshipping beach lovers? Take the time to envision your ideal escape together. Next, think about the pace of your honeymoon. Do you crave an action-packed getaway filled with cultural excursions and adrenaline-fueled activities, or is a serene, intimate retreat more your cup of tea? This will help narrow down the myriad of enchanting options at your disposal. Lastly, don’t hesitate to reach out to our knowledgeable team for guidance. Their expertise and understanding of each hotel’s nuances will ensure you discover the destination that perfectly encapsulates what you’re looking for.
