About Ritual Unions

Getting married is a bold step. It‘s 2021. There is no normal - you can wear whatever you want. Ritual Unions is here for it.

Ritual Unions pieces are for women who are up for filling the next chapter in their lives with pure self-love. Women who celebrate being different. Women who are up for something different, something new, and don‘t care what others think. Women who stand up and move forward.

Every dress is handmade in Berlin, following a concept to be as sustainable as possible. We stand for slow fashion and only produce upon order.

Behind The Brand

Describe the woman you design for…

Modern women with a strong sense of fashion, who dare to be different and do not care what others think. At Ritual Unions a strong emphasis is placed on diversity which is reflected in the collection. From dreamy romantic to sexy and cool, a wide range is covered for an individual style.

What is your most popular piece?

We love our Jen Dress which is made-to-order. A hand-embroidered, high neck gown with a stitched in corset and full tulle skirt, this piece is wild romance with an aura of bold instinct.

What advice would you give to brides-to-be?

Say no to things you don’t need, say yes to things that make you happy. Don’t listen too much to others, but find your inner voice. Be good to yourself, proud of yourself, and go your own way.

As a designer, what tips do you have for brides to get the most out of their fittings?

Make sure you don’t pack your schedule too full to avoid arriving stressed and allowing yourself time to reflect afterward. Eat enough, drink enough, and don’t think about what can go wrong. Focus on body parts you like. Don’t overthink certain ideas, but go into the appointment with an open mind and have fun!

Do you offer a custom design service for brides? If so, how long does it take to make a custom piece?

Yes, in our studio in Berlin we offer custom-made dresses. We recommend making a consultation appointment at least 6 months before the wedding, starting the process sooner rather than later.

What advice do you give to brides to care for their gown?

Before the wedding, hang your gown up high so that the fabric can “breathe” and the train doesn’t touch the floor. Do not leave too long in the garment bag so that the gown is not crushed, we recommend only using the garment bag for transportation. Steam carefully with a 20 cm distance, but this varies between fabrics, so it is better to ask again or look at the label. This is especially important as some fabrics can be destroyed if they get wet while being steamed. After the wedding ensure you have your gown professionally cleaned, protect it from UV light so that the color does not fade or go yellow, and do not forget moth protection, as it’s better safe than sorry!

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

Contemporary visions intertwined with unapologetic romance and untamed spirit captured our full attention, placing Ritual Unions high on our list of love. Boldly feminine and unexpected can never be underestimated.

For the woman…

Seeking a gown that speaks to her inner confidence, a statement of her own. A designer who will dream big with her to take ideas from conceptualization into form. The Ritual Unions woman follows her own path with a slow fashion approach.

Styling tips…

When approaching styling always come back to a place of emotive thought. Allow yourself to put yourself first, not a trend or need to follow tradition. The most authentic and heartfelt style comes from a place of self-love and a willingness to express yourself with freedom. Take our personal favorite the Shadow gown, in black for an avant-garde late eve city rooftop soiree; channeling elegance with a nonchalant, whispy up-do, milky beige nails and a muted smokey eye for a look that is timeless and beautifully chic.
