Established in 2014, with a background in Visual Merchandising and Design, they style and curate unique weddings and moments that truly reflect their couples. It’s an indescribable feeling helping and guiding their many and varied couples through these moments in time. The team at Ruby and James are constantly inspired by the people they meet, and most importantly, the stories that have brought them together. Their personable, honest approach and process recognizes that each project is unique and no detail is overlooked.

Behind The Brand

What’s your best piece of advice for wedding and event planning?

My best piece of advice that we give to all of our couples, is to be authentically you when planning your wedding. From every aspect to your dress, to the stationery, right down to the cake design and font on your menus. It’s a day about the two of you and it needs to reflect this. Wedding planning can become incredibly overwhelming and we often find couples become confused and overwhelmed with designs that are on-trend versus their own personal style. My second piece of advice would be to book the vendors you really want – you won’t regret, even if they may be slightly pricier. If you have your heart set on a certain florist, dress designer, or band, wedding vendors are such a unique passionate bunch and when couples trust their vendors and give them full creative reign…this is where the magic happens.

Do you travel interstate/worldwide?

We sure do, we love that our work can take us anywhere within Australia and around the world.

How does the process of wedding planning work?

Our process begins with an initial consultation with our couples. This is where we’ll sit down for a coffee and find out how they envisage their day, focus on the things they love, and the story of how they met. It’s so important to us before working on the design concept to get to know each other a little better. We then collaborate on a Pinterest Board so we can see what catches their eye from a design perspective. Together with the site visit of the venue, this is where we draw our inspiration to begin working on their concepts. The detailed design document includes a custom design tailored to their brief, including direction on the style and feel, furniture, linen, decor, signage and stationery, florals, and lighting. We delve into the personal touches that will be weaved amongst the styling details. Once the designs have been finalized, we’ll then work towards their allocated styling budget and liaise with the styling suppliers to manage the bookings and deliveries. With a detailed run-sheet, our talented team of stylists will be on-site on the day to bring our couple’s vision to fruition.

What elements of a wedding do you help with?

We can assist with all elements involved with the styling and design of your wedding day. From creating a custom look, focussing on the right color palette, sourcing hire items, creating floral concepts, lighting and signage direction, advising on the best possible floor plans, and managing suppliers. Then our team of stylists will be there on the day to make sure no detail is overlooked.

How would you describe your style when it comes to your products and services?

Considered, romantic and texture focussed. We have quite an organic approach to our designs and nature plays such a huge role in influencing our style.
