About Story of Eve

Michael Toman of Story of Eve is a filmmaker and photographer whose passion is in capturing emotive stories – stories with love, melancholy, happiness and joy – “I want you to look back at these memories and see a reflection of who you are in every frame...not literally, but the essence of who you are as people.”

With a background in editorial design, Michael has a keen eye for detail and a unique ability in capturing the moments others might miss…the tiny gestures, the hidden tear, the small moments of connection. Michael loves to travel and is fortunate to work with couples all over the globe.

Behind The Brand

How would you describe your videography style?

Every film I create is unique to the story of each couple and this special day in their lives. Some of my films are soft and dialogue driven while others are crazy parties cut to an upbeat track.

What is it that makes a wedding film magical?

There’s something magical about capturing someone at a certain time in their life on film. Being able to watch them back and see them move, how they laughed and interacted – it’s such an incredibly special medium that only grows in value as time goes by.

Film has such a powerful way of transporting you right back to that day in your lives when you had everyone that mattered to you in the same space celebrating your love.

How do you select music to accompany your footage?

Choosing music is the most important part of the process for me. The music will tell the story of your day as much as the visuals. It will influence the pace and emotion, and therefore, I can spend anywhere up to three days listening to tracks before I find the perfect combinations to tell each story.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

I am incredibly fortunate to get to capture love all over the globe.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

The process takes approximately 12 weeks.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve captured…

I filmed a wedding recently where the bride gave a speech about what love meant to her. She shared such personal moments about the past 12 months in the couple’s life; of losing her mother, of spending time with father in hospital the week of her wedding and how much her partner had supported her and how that year shaped her understanding of love. It was the most beautifully articulated and emotional speech I’ve ever heard. Being able to capture that in film and relive that emotion is such a priceless gift.

For the couple…

Looking for an artistic wedding film that captures candid details and real, unfiltered emotions using beautiful editing techniques.

Styling tips…

Consider your surroundings to create a more holistic and sensory story – the bustling streetscape outside, the flickering movement of trains, the whispering stillness of a mountain top…
