What draws you to wedding videography?

I love this question—why do I do what I do? Being a wedding filmmaker allows me to fulfill both my passion for storytelling and my purpose of bringing out the best in people. My journey into wedding videography began after more than twenty years as a journalist and filmmaker at the BBC, where I developed a deep understanding of both storytelling and filmmaking.

Storytelling is in my DNA, and I’ve always believed that no two stories are the same. This, along with my helping my clients feel fabulous about themselves, forms the foundation of everything we do at Story Of Your Day. There’s something deeply fulfilling about capturing not just the moments, but the emotions, the connections, and the essence of a couple’s love story.

How would you describe your videography style?

At Story Of Your Day, we are “purveyors of time travel through cinematic storytelling.” Our clients are not looking for a generic, sweeping “perfume-style advert” approach. Instead, they seek a timeless, story-driven, and cinematic style that focuses on a soulful and authentic narrative.

While the current trend in wedding films often embraces a highly stylized approach, our films are about capturing the true essence of your story. Every film I create is a unique, cinematic time capsule. We transport you back to your wedding day and evoke the emotions you felt in that moment.

By combining cinematic visuals with rich, evocative audio, we create a truly immersive experience—our films are not just something to be watched, but something to be felt.

What inspires you creatively?

I don’t just make wedding films; I tell stories about people, places, and love—and they just so happen to be getting married. It really is this simple for me: what inspires me most are the couples and their unique love stories.

Combine that with the beautiful locations I travel to, and the result is a film that feels deeply personal and reflective of who they are. My clients share this vision, and we work together throughout the process to ensure their story is told in the most authentic way.

What is it that makes a wedding film magical?

“At the end of the day, people won’t remember what you said or did; they will remember how you made them feel.” This is a quote that really resonates with me and reflects the ethos of Story Of Your Day.

I also believe that what makes a wedding film magical is the ability to transport couples back in time and enable them to relive every moment. So with Story Of Your Day, you’re not just investing in a film; you’re investing in an experience.

And finally, a magical film is a unique one. One that doesn’t follow a formula, isn’t a simple music montage, and doesn’t chase trends. Instead, it’s story-driven, authentic, and unique—just like all my beautiful clients.

Do you travel internationally?

Traveling is another great love of mine. I’ll travel anywhere to capture a beautiful story! While I adore filming elopements and weddings here in Switzerland, surrounded by its breathtaking mountains and serene landscapes, there’s something truly special about exploring new and beautiful locations. Each destination offers a fresh perspective, and I love seeing these places with fresh eyes. Filming in new locations always adds a unique layer to the story we’re telling.

What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding videographer?

In choosing your wedding videographer, it goes without saying you should love your videographer’s work. Beyond that initial feeling, decide if it’s important to you that their portfolio showcases a variety of films, not just a repetitive style, so that your film is unique to you.

I also recommend finding someone who takes personal ownership of your project rather than outsourcing it to associate editors—you want someone who’s dedicated to crafting a beautiful film that truly captures your day.

One thing that often comes up in my reviews is how much my clients appreciate the personal connection we build. A good videographer doesn’t just swoop in on your wedding day; they take the time to get to know you. It’s nice to have someone personable and friendly around on such a significant day. This rapport not only helps you feel more relaxed but also allows me to capture your story in a way that feels authentic and intimate.
