Behind The Brand
Your advice for selecting shoes for groomsmen or event suiting…
I would recommend one of two options here. 1. Select a smart dark coloured shoe and have the whole party wear the same style. 2. Or Select the grooms shoe style and then match the colour but vary the style for the groomsmen. Everyone see whats on your feet, your choice is extremely important. I believe subtlety is elegant and suits these occasion dressing opportunities.
What was the spark for 124 Shoes? Where did the story begin?
With a love and passion for quality footwear we felt there was a void in the market for 124 Shoes. We wanted to provide a unique artisanal experience for shoe lovers, with a hand-selected collection of meticulously handmade footwear, leather goods, accessories and fragrances for men and women. Our brand philosophy is to offer quality original footwear in limited quantities, fitting between luxury brands and mass-market retailers.
The first store was opened in Melbourne late December 2012.
What inspires you creatively?
Traveling to the various iconic fashion cities of the world is what stimulates me creatively. Walking the streets looking for unique stores, experiencing the energy and culture of people in the large city fills me with excitement and optimism to create something special at 124
Most memorable place you’ve travelled?
I’ve been most fortunate to have travelled to many beautiful parts of the world, so it is an extremely difficult one to answer. If I had to choose a city I couldn’t choose between New York and Rome with the fashion hubs of Tokyo, Milan and Paris not too far behind.
On a typical weekend we’ll find you?
Well life has recently changed for me becoming a father for the first time. With a busy lifestyle I like to get as much family time in these days. Typically I’d be looking to explore a hidden gem to dine out with friends and enjoy a fine negroni.
