Behind The Brand

Describe the man you design for…

We design for the man who enjoys presenting himself in a manner that reflects good style and an elevated level of taste. Our garments are balanced and luxuriously understated and we feel that this attitude aligns with our client’s lifestyle. The BELANCE man appreciates minimalist design, values quality, and enjoys creativity within their personal style.

Do you offer a custom tailoring service? If so, how long does it take to make a custom-tailored piece?

Yes, all our garments are custom made, meaning each garment is made one at a time to our customer’s measurements and style preferences. Our custom orders are usually ready within 4 to 6 weeks. We always advise designing your wedding suit at least 2 months prior to the wedding date to ensure our full range of fabric options are available to choose from.

What advice do you have for grooms looking to have a suit tailored?

We advise grooms to look at their wedding outfit as an opportunity to wear something truly special that reflects the magnitude of the occasion. It is possible to create a timeless and tasteful outfit while still feeling comfortable. It can however be easy to over-do the design without proper guidance, so we’ve created an easy guide for grooms as a starting point. For this reason, it is essential that you purchase your suit from a brand that you identify with and that you trust.

What is your most popular style for grooms and groomsmen?

The popularity of our suiting styles depends on the type of wedding. For more formal, traditional weddings the black tuxedo made from 100% Australian Merino Wool is a favorite. For beach and more relaxed weddings, we love incorporating unconventional fabrics most notably linen, cotton, and silk into our designs, which elevate the look and can add a more casual edge to garments while still maintaining a sense of formality. In a similar way, we design groomsmen’s suits to match the wedding’s style and aesthetic. A classic tuxedo, black suit, or beige linen suit tend to be the most popular design amongst our groomsmen.

What advice do you give to men to care for their suit?

Look at your suit as an investment and something that needs some love and care. Purchasing a hand-held steamer for the wedding day is a great idea and allows you to freshen up the garments without any pressure or heat while a soft-bristle brush or lint roller can help take care of any lint or dust on the fabric. After the wedding, store the garments in a bag in a safe location and dry-clean sparingly to ensure the color is maintained.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

Masterful tailoring with clean contemporary cuts and fabrications curated into elevated bespoke suiting caught our eye, and kept it.

Looking for an experienced tailor to invest in a timeless outfit and the experience of being guided through the personalization process of measurements, silhouettes, fabric selection, and fittings.

Styling Tips…

Consideration of detail is what sets menswear apart. If you’re unsure seek advice from your tailor on lapel size, vents, buttons, trouser hem or cuff, pockets, shirting, tie or bow tie, cufflinks, socks, and shoe style. Keep in mind your venue, weather, and the atmosphere you would like your celebration to evoke. If it’s a summer coastal event think lightweight linens in softer color palettes, conversely for a city black-tie winter soiree, think classic black in fine wool and crisp white cotton shirting.
