Surrounded by the bohemian jungle of Mazunte, Casa Cuachalala is an architectural project born from the mind of Ignacio Urquiza. Emerging from the idea of letting nature be wild and building accordingly. This project reflects a success story, being the perfect combination between raw nature and astonishing luxury in every detail.

Behind The Brand

What was the initial inspiration for your collection of travel and honeymoon destinations, and how did it all begin?

We fell in love with the place immediately, the nature that surrounded the place was majestic yet private. It felt like a safe heaven of everything Mazunte was, so we knew we needed to built there.

A seamless integration of nature and design became our primary goal, as well as highlighting the unique characteristics of the terrain to give the house a privileged position, ensuring its integration into the context, orientation, and privacy, and achieving an optimal relationship between interior and exterior, public and private spaces. Another priority of ours was to stay true, not to only the nature surrounding us, but also to our rich Mexican culture.

Using traditional native techniques, such as “chucúm”, a building material obtained from the resin of the Metopium brownei tree, as well as accenting the house with Mexican artesanías and working with renowned Mexican architect Ignacio Urquiza, in collaboration with Ana Paula de Alba to give the house a true sophisticated Mexican soul.

How do your various destinations cater to different types of travel or honeymoon experiences?

It’s an experience, not your typical beach vacation. It’s an immersion. Surrounded only by nature it’s the perfect dichotomy of service and privacy.

What is it that makes each of your destinations unique and magical?

The place. Like no other. It’s immersing yourself completely in the Oaxacan jungle just to emerge in a blend of nature and relaxation. The ultimate luxury; wildness, uniqueness and confort.

How does your team ensure a seamless and memorable travel experience across all your destinations?

The Mexican service is like no other, we ensure every guest gets to experience that. Our staff will make every meal, every dink and every bed so easy and seamless, that the only thing that our guest can do is to enjoy.

What advice can you give to couples when selecting the perfect honeymoon or travel destination from your collection?

That the place truly speaks to you. That you can look at it as your home as well as an adventure.
