About Château de Gudanes

What began as a thirteenth-century fortress became a fifteenth-century castle, then an eighteenth-century palatial Château and now, Château de Gudanes as it is today stands proudly in the south of France in the small village of Château-Verdun.

The Château has stood the test of time, and today she opens her doors to share her memories and communicate her ongoing history. We merely set the scene to help you along a journey within your own imagination, encouraging you to picture your own version of the past and what life was once like at the Château while experiencing your special day in the present.

Behind The Brand

What rooms/spaces do you have available for a wedding?

Within her walls, the Château has four main salons (drawing room, music room, and two dining rooms), a bar, a small chapel and two vestibule areas for guests to enjoy, as well as a selection of bedrooms. The Château grounds are comprised of several areas that can accommodate guests for al fresco dining, drinks, and ceremonies.

How many people can each of these cater for?

The main dining salon can accommodate up to 40 guests, the other salons between 20-30 guests and the outside areas can accommodate larger parties.

Do you offer onsite accommodation?

We offer onsite accommodation for up to 20 guests, with additional accommodation available in the neighboring village.

What additional features and facilities does your venue offer that couples may find useful?

Château de Gudanes is an 18th-century Château undergoing restoration. While she enjoys some modern luxuries such as a pool area, tennis court, and a surround sound music system, guests will find that the ethos of the Château is centered around an authentic old-world experience, there is limited electricity and rooms are lit by candlelight each evening.

What type of couple would fall in love with your venue and why?

Château de Gudanes is nestled among a valley in the Pyrenees mountains of southern France, overlooking a picturesque croissant-shaped village. The Château experience is focused on slow-living and enjoying the magnetism of the surrounding landscape and the history within the Château’s four walls.

Couples looking for an other-worldly experience with rooms lit by candlelight, beds dressed with antique linens, and delicious delicacies cultivated from the Château’s own garden served on vintage porcelain and accompanied by a glass of locally grown wine, need look no further. Be part of the Château’s ongoing 800-year history, and invite her to be part of yours.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

An otherworldly experience taking you back centuries. We love the beautifully maintained timeworn walls, old fashioned paintings and vintage homewares keeping the history and authenticity of the home alive.

For the couple…

Looking for an intimate, unique, and magical French Chateau experience and who can appreciate the history and charm of an 800-year-old venue.

Styling tips…

Already spilling with character, keep your styling simple with an abundance of flowers. Use the vintage blue and white porcelain and linens on offer and as the sun sets, surround your guests with candlelight using the antique candelabras. For smaller weddings, host drinks, dinner, and dessert in separate salons to show your guests the beauty and character of each space.
