What was the initial spark for the property and how did it all begin?

Dating back to the 16th century, Cluny Castle is a rare and remarkable setting – a family home steeped in history, where centuries of heritage and tradition create an atmosphere unlike any other. Once a refuge for Jacobite rebels and home to generations of the Gordon family, it has been lovingly restored to offer impeccable comfort while retaining its original charm.

Hosting only a select number of weddings each year, Cluny offers a level of exclusivity that few venues can match. With absolute privacy, a highly personalised approach, and a team devoted to crafting once-in-a-lifetime celebrations, this is a place where love stories echo throughout its storied walls, becoming part of its rich legacy. Every wedding here is as extraordinary as it is deeply personal – a privilege reserved for a limited few. What spaces do you offer for a wedding or event?

Cluny Castle is so versatile and offers a number of unique spaces catering for everything from intimate gatherings to grand events. Featuring a dramatic crenelated façade and accessed via a majestic, tree-lined drive, a breathtaking chapel, a picturesque lake, wooded parkland, a babbling stream and 14 beautiful bedrooms, Cluny Castle is a perfect blend of old-world soul and modern luxury. From exchanging vows in our storied chapel, bathed in sunlight filtering through stained glass, to hosting a grand reception in the Tenants Hall, every moment is yours to shape.

The unique Chapel complete with beautiful stained-glass windows, dark oak pews and seating for up to 120 guests creates the most wonderfully romantic atmosphere and truly magical setting in which to exchange your vows.

For smaller more intimate weddings of up to 24, the beautiful Dining Room & Drawing Room make a stunning and memorable setting to celebrate your special day. The incomparable Tenants’ Hall, seats up to 90 guests and is a superb and truly unique setting for dinner and dancing. Or for larger weddings, we have several sites within the stunning grounds for a marquee, all of which enjoy the magnificent backdrop of the Castle.

How many guests can you cater for?

We can host anything from small intimate weddings for 2 – 26, right up to the large scale marquee weddings of 300 + guests.

What advice can you give couples when selecting their venue?

Choosing your wedding venue is arguably one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the whole planning process and will most likely be top of your to-do list as soon as you’re engaged. Obviously, your wedding venue needs to make your heart skip a beat when you see it for the first time, but there are a number of other things that we always advise our couples to consider before signing on that dotted line.

• Does it fit within your overall budget?
• Is the location right for you?
• Is it perfectly picturesque like you imagined?
• What is the venue’s capacity and does it align with your guest numbers (or will your guest list be designed to fit around the venue!?)
• Is it exclusive use?
• Does it have overnight accommodation?
• Consider the season you would like to get married, does the venue have availability?
• What is your style/theme, does it fit your overall vibe?

Our advice? Be willing and open to compromise as chances are you will have to compromise on something along the way. Be creative but most importantly, consider whether the venue feels like ‘you’. If the venue feels right and you can envisage yourself getting married there, that’s a very good start.
