Behind The Brand

What was the spark for beginning the brand?

Diana Porter established the brand in 1993, having completed her degree in Jewelry and Silversmithing in 1990. The teachers encouraged Diana’s love of the History of Art, and through this, she became passionate about investigating the history of women within the arts.

This passion became the foundation of the collections, crafting jewelry that is based on moments derived from daily life, art, and the past. The core collection has remained largely unchanged since its humble beginnings and has developed a range of recognizable signatures. Diana’s studio now oversees the company and continues the brand’s legacy.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Our designs have an organic flair, with textured finishes that artfully blend the natural beauty of the stones with refined luxurious touches. Every piece is thoughtfully crafted in our Bristol workshop by a small team of jewelers. We prioritize an ethical and sustainable design practice, ensuring both quality and responsibility.

What inspires you creatively?

We design our pieces based on the unique characteristics of the gemstones we work with. Each design is specifically tailored to accentuate the varied colors and distinct shapes of these precious stones, following an individualistic approach. Additionally, we value our customers’ narratives and find inspiration in them. Our consultation process provides an opportunity for customers to share their stories, which we integrate into our designs, bridging past and present.

What are you drawn to in wedding jewellery right now? What would you like to see less of in your industry?

We’re seeing more couples choosing to opt for a less traditional plain wedding band and gravitating toward unusual bands set with colored gemstones, textures, and alternative shapes, like rainbow eternity and wishbone. We love working with our customers to create a fully unique wedding set! In contrast, there has been a dramatic rise in price in just about every core material, so we’d love to see an improvement on price stability in the future.

What advice can you give to couples when shopping for their engagement ring?

One of the most important things to remember is to lean into your partner’s personal aesthetic; this is the best way to find a ring they’ll love forever. Consider the jewelry they already love and their preferred metal—embrace your creativity! In our experience, the most cherished rings are those that are true to the wearer’s personality.
