About Divine Day Photography

Led by fashion design graduate, Sandra von Riekhoff, Divine Day Photography has been photographing wedding stories since 2007. Sandra herself has 15 years of experience photographing everything from big and high profile weddings to bijoux, private, elopement celebrations. After working with fashion labels like Fendi and Temperley London Sandra moved over to fashion and wedding photography. Now, Divine Day is a small core team of 2 lead photographers with a further cherry-picked selection of other brilliant assistant photographers. Divine Day Photography has a unique blend of cinematic & editorial approaches to documenting weddings. There is a strong sense of locality, season, style, and soul. Using a variety of perspectives and lenses both on film and digital, they tell the story of the day with personality, love, and honesty.

Behind The Brand

How would you describe your photography style?

Documentary and editorial with a cinematic feel. I like the images to feel completely natural, emotionally raw, and honest. To do this we really do integrate. We’ll get stuck in, hang, have a drink and make ourselves feel like part of the furniture. It makes a big difference when your guests feel like they’re part of the gang.

What is it that makes an image magical?

Big question, but I have a rule, every image must tell some kind of story.

What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?

Do a pre-shoot!!! It doesn’t need to be with the same photographer that is shooting your wedding but someone whose style is similar. Learn before the big day what you need to be doing in order to get the images you’re after. It’s a worthy bit of homework!

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

We are horrible for the environment…yes.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

It all depends on how busy we are, but anywhere from 2 weeks to 12 weeks with the norm about 8 weeks.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…

I have some big stories after shooting weddings for 15 years! What I would love to say is that the real magic in a wedding is when it becomes unwaveringly clear the paramount goal of the couple is to spend their time at their wedding loving the hell out of everyone there.
