About Emotional Perspective

Emotional Perspective is the result of a long journey that began when Dominik quit his job as an investment banker to find out what really fulfilled him and who he really was. It's not just the name of a brand, it turned out to describe Dominik's whole being and his approach to photography. His art embraces his true work and fulfills him when he feels a deep and true connection between himself and the people in front of his camera. He shoots pictures with his heart, not his camera and wants his clients and all the people that look at his photography to feel touched in their souls as well.

What draws you to wedding photography?

Weddings have always been absolutely special occasions for me because I can learn so much about life in general. It always reminds me what really matters in life and shows me that there are so many different approaches to love, life, and friendship. I love the talks to all kind of people, I love to see divorced parents hugging each other, I love to see that people can forgive each other and can let all hatred go. I see so many moments each and every weekend which I am forever grateful for because it has helped me a lot to focus on the real and it has made me a better human. When I get feedback from my clients telling me they are forever thankful for the special moments I capture – like the last picture taken with their grandparents that will last with them forever – it really touches my soul and makes me very very happy.

How would you describe your photography style?

I don’t have a certain style or fixed color approach nor do I follow the trends out there. Sometimes I like grain, sometimes I like it clean and modern. My photography is more driven through my feelings. It is a mixture of art, emotion and style. It is a mirror of my soul so it changes depending on my mood and the people I am working with. I try to establish a connection to the people in front of my camera and let myself guide through the energy I am feeling. I am always waiting for this moment where I get a special feeling in my heart and this is the point where my art and everything I have inside me bubbles out.

What inspires you creatively?

Definitely music that I really feel. It always leads and inspires me in my creative process. There is no special person or a work of someone else that inspires me. I try to get all the inspiration from the humans I am working with. If I had to name someone who really inspired my when I started out with photography it would definitely be Jonas Peterson.

What is it that makes an image magical?

An image is magical to me when it has the power to touch someone that has no connection to it at all.

What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?

Think about which pictures really have a meaning to you. Let them show full wedding galleries to you. It is the only way you can find out how your photographer really works. Other then that it is just like choosing a partner or a friend to spend time with, you should feel trust and comfort.

Your dream location to shoot a wedding?

I do not have a dream location. My dream always comes true when I can drive to a wedding with my old vintage hippie bus and feel like a friend and not a photographer, when I have fantastic talks and even end up making friends with my couple. If this happens to be somewhere at the beach at my favorite places in Portugal, that will be paradise for me!
