About Fernando Jorge
Fernando Jorge’s evolution from dynamic emerging talent to globally recognised brand has unfolded in little more than a decade. Since founding his eponymous label in 2011, Jorge has swiftly gained international recognition. Born in Brazil and based in London, Jorge’s unique design aesthetic stems from his multicultural perspective. His jewellery blends the attitudes of his two homes, the sensuality and vibrant warmth of Brazil with the refinement and rebellious spirit of British style, creating a visual language that is at once elegant and contemporary.
Behind The Brand
What was the spark for beginning your brand?
The creation of my brand was a natural and organic progression of my career. After nearly a decade of designing for companies in São Paulo, I accumulated extensive experience and developed my own ideas. Seeking to reflect and refine my craft, I moved to London to pursue a Master’s at Central Saint Martins, which culminated in the launch of my first collection in 2011, marking the official beginning of my brand.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
The aesthetic of my work was developed with Brazilian culture in mind, reflecting the casual elegance, sensuality and exuberant nature of my home country.
What inspires you creatively?
Throughout my journey as a designer, I have been consistently inspired by my cultural roots. While there is a subtle influence of traditional fine jewellery, I aim to move away from direct historical references, focusing instead on the essence of what I believe jewellery represents; sensual, feminine, elegant and organic.
What advice can you give to couples when shopping for their engagement ring?
Try on a variety of designs and styles – the physical touch and feel of an engagement ring is very important. Keep an open mind; there are no rules. Choose designs that feel natural and authentic to you, whether they are classic or contemporary. Collaborate with a brand or designer whose aesthetic, ethos, and vision align with your own. Most importantly, enjoy the experience.
What are you drawn to in wedding jewelry right now? What would you like to see less of in your industry?
For me, wedding jewellery is deeply personal to those who are getting married. Couples have the opportunity to create or choose pieces that best reflect their relationship and personal style, whether classic and traditional or modern and contemporary. It’s about wearing something that truly represents them and their journey together. I believe the meaning and significance of wedding jewellery open, adapting to what it symbolises for each individual or couple.
