Our mission is to design intentional and emotive compositions unique to each couple and the space. We value connection, sustainability and uniqueness. A collision of raw beauty and abundance, our designs feature nostalgic blooms, sculptural elegance and delightful movement.

Forever inspired by nature itself, each element is carefully considered yet effortlessly ‘growing’ with natural movement and artful drama creating an unforgettable floral experience for you and your guests.

Behind The Brand

What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?

The name came from my love of photographing flowers and nature. I wanted a place to share my progress and created an Instagram account called Film and Foliage. The business came from others reaching out to me and requesting I do their wedding florals – to be honest, I had no intentions to start a business and it almost felt like it started itself.

The spark came from my childhood days of gardening with my mum, climbing trees, reading the Secret Garden and collecting Jacarandah seeds to post to my nanna. This is where I found my deep love for nature and art, the feeling of being enveloped by blooms, watching flowers grow and admiring the perfect imperfections.

What services do you offer couples?

Elevated and effortless floral design experiences for weddings and events

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Whimsical and ethereal floral sculptures, we obsess over divine movement and allow our flowers to dance in their designs. We fall head over heels for a freckled orchid, a sweet smelling gardenia and a wild rose vine tumbling and cascading over a tablescape. Our mission is to design with intention, creating a floral experience that considers the aesthetics of the space, the narrative of the clients and the blooms in season.

As a florist, what are you inspired by at the moment in the world of weddings?

I am constantly inspired by other design mediums – fashion, interiors, architecture, photography, sometimes just a walk down the street can stir so many ideas. I also melt a little at anything that is inspired by memories or nostalgia. Flowers have a really strong connection with memory in our brains, they are multi-sensory and the smell, feel, and look of florals can stir up so many sweet echos from the past. Did you grandma wear perfume that smelt like Gardenias? Was there a Jasmine vine at your childhood home? What flowers did your lover give you when you first dated?

Every time I flower for a wedding, my couple’s share sweet stories about their grandfather’s dahlia farms and the marigolds from their mum’s pot plants so we include these into their wedding floralscape to carry those memories into their day.

What would you like to see less of?

We have a strong sustainable mission in our business and we eliminate as many single use plastics, imported florals, and harmful chemicals from our practice as possible. Our couples are planning their future together, starting families, building homes and planting trees. They seek us out because their values align with our consideration of our planet and the intention to reduce our footprint and take care of the Earth our flowers grow from. We share our sustainable techniques and mission to educate and inspire others to do the same

A styling/planning tip or two you’ve learned along the way that you’d give to any couple?

If you have a strong vision for your day – choose the designer who already creates in this style. You will always achieve a better result and have a deeper foundation of trust in your florist. The negative space is just as important as the visual impact, you need to give your eyes a chance to rest to appreciate the beauty of the blooms. If possible, choose vendor teams that have worked together before – the communication and teamwork will be on another level, the planning and the day will just flow.
