Behind The Brand

What was the initial spark for the property and how did it all begin?

In 2015 Julia, who was 28 at the time and a single mom to her two year old daughter, had moved back to the area and after spending many years as a wedding coordinator was ready for a new challenge, Garthmyl Hall was definitely that!

With no experience in renovating, design or running a business it was a steep learning curve with her daughter, Poppy. Garthmyl Hall was local to where Julia grew up and although it was a stone’s throw away from her home, she had never known about it.

It had such magic about it, something special, calming and welcoming, a home from home. Julia could visualize what she wanted and with the help of her family and incredible team, it became a reality! They started with the main house, which took 6 months to complete, the pressure was on as there were lots of bookings already! Couples were visiting and booking in their wellies with no electricity or roof, and knee deep in mud in parts.

Julia was amazed at how many people booked under these circumstances and had such faith and trust in her to complete the renovation, feeling the magic just as Julia did. The main factors when creating Garthmyl Hall were that it would only have one wedding a weekend, there would be no in and out approach, we wanted our couples to feel like they are the only ones here. A place they marry with a small team who will go above and beyond who offer exceptional customer service.

What spaces do you offer for a wedding or event?

Garthmyl Hall offers so many unique spaces for all numbers and visions: the grand Ballroom, pretty Walled Garden, the Summer House complete with a grapevine canopy. Couples can also choose to wed in charming churches nearby for a traditional touch. Each offers a unique backdrop for those all-important vows. After the “I dos”, the reception seamlessly transitions from vows to vibrant toasts, music, and mingling. We have plans for a beautiful Georgian orangery for receptions in 2025.

How many guests can you cater for?

We can cater for up to 160 guests (our ballroom hosts up to 100 for indoor ceremony) with 200 for an evening party.

Our country house venue is the place where your wedding becomes a weekend-long celebration tailored exactly to your taste. With our dedicated team, stylish accommodation options for up to 50 guests, and a knack for throwing incredible parties, we’re here to help make your big day effortlessly elegant, deeply personal, and utterly unforgettable.
