About Gio Bespoke

Jo Corona, the creative force behind Gio Bespoke, established the brand in 2019. As the head designer and pattern maker, she aimed to curate an exquisite collection of ceremonial and flower girl dresses. Drawing inspiration from her innovative designs, she sourced exceptional fabrics and embellishments from abroad. The range also encompasses stunning baptismal and communion dresses.

Crafted in Melbourne, every Gio Bespoke creation caters to a diverse range of budgets with sizes ranging from 2 to 16. Additionally, the brand offers a made-to-measure service, ensuring each piece is tailored to perfection.

Behind The Brand

What was the spark for beginning Gio Bespoke?

The spark for beginning Gio Bespoke was ignited by my grandmother’s passion for designing and creating dresses. Growing up in southern Europe, she taught women in her village how to sew for their families after the war.

As a creative pattern maker in the Australian fashion industry, I have always been enamoured by fabrics, stunning designs, and custom-made gowns, both for myself and my clients. However, while working primarily in women’s fashion, I noticed a lack of variety and creativity in the special occasion sector, particularly when it came to flower girl and ceremonial attire. This realisation inspired me to start Gio Bespoke and fill the gap by offering unique and beautifully crafted options for these occasions.

What inspires you creatively?

Creatively, I find inspiration in various elements that captivate me visually and carry a story of the past. My adoration for architecture, churches, art, fabrics, countries I have visited, textures, and intricate details like beading and lace all play a significant role in igniting my creative spark. These captivating aspects not only catch my eye but also transport me into a world enriched with tales of experiences.

What advice can you give to brides when shopping for flower girl dress?

Flower girls need to compliment the bride and the bridal party as they are the first ones seen on the wedding day. Whether it be one flower girl or five, we love working with brides to  help achieve their vision.

We think it’s really important that the chosen style compliments the overall wedding theme. If brides are unsure, we always advise to keep it modern and minimal.

What are you drawn to in bridal right now? And what would you love to see less of?

We are drawn to ethereal silhouettes, soft textured fabrics, beading, lace and embroidery. We love classic designs and we don’t follow trends as we stick to our own asthetic which is true to our brand.
