About Hayfield Catskills

Over 150 years old, Hayfield’s barns underwent thorough restoration and repair while keeping the charm of their hand-hewn beams, tin roof, and century-old magic. New bathrooms inside, pristine hardwood floors, hot and cold water, wifi, and hand-blown-glass antique pendant lights, making them appropriately appointed, even for formal events.

Nestled in a breathtaking mountain valley amidst the Catskill Mountains, light twinkles in through the rafters, bird nests hide in the joists, fireflies dance outside after twilight, and on clear nights you can even see the Milky Way.

Behind The Brand

What rooms/spaces do you have available for a wedding?

Outdoor ceremony location, cocktail hour outside on the grassy knoll, and two connected barns that offer a dining room and a space for dancing. A wet weather option is holding the ceremony inside the barn with the couple exchanging vows in the doorway with a stunning view behind them, and their guests gathering beneath the soaring 35’ gambrel ceiling.

How many people can each of these cater for?

Parties of 165 guests or less can be accommodated inside. Parties between 165 – 230 guests can dine outside on the lawn beneath a tent, and then come inside the barns following dinner for dancing.

Do you offer onsite accommodation?

No onsite accommodations, however, there are plenty of hotels within a 15-minute drive.

What additional features and facilities does your venue offer that couples may find useful?

Although Hayfield has rustic charm, it’s not a “rustic” space. We have full electricity and wifi, running water and brand new bathrooms. We built it to be suitable for even formal, black tie events! Executing a wedding at Hayfield is fairly turnkey, couples only need to select their favorite vendors and not worry about logistics. We also offer furniture: hand-hewn tables and ceremony benches that were all built by hand by a local woodworker who uses Japanese Joinery, vintage wooden chairs for dining, and two antique display tables and an antique bar.

Hayfield hosts no more than one event per week, May – October, allowing couples to receive the support and attention they deserve as well as access to the property.

We’re also available to our couples in any capacity for the year of planning. We can curate recommended vendor lists designed around aesthetic preferences and budget parameters, ideate design executions, and provide lists of nearby accommodations.

What type of couple would fall in love with your venue and why?

I’d say our couples want a refined and elegant event amidst the bucolic beauty of the Catskills with the whimsical and unreplicable charm of the barns. Almost all our couples live in New York City and Brooklyn and most work in creative fields. They have high aesthetic standards, they want the outdoors to play a big part in their event, and they want a wedding venue that feels elevated but authentic, refined and undiscovered. Ironically, most of our couples avoid the traditional “barn wedding” tropes of burlap and mason jars. They have more sophisticated preferences and they make unique aesthetic choices that allow their individual personalities and their story to shine through.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

A beautifully restored barn offering a chic yet rustic space surrounded by verdant fields and trees. We love its whimsical and authentic feel.

For the couple…

Looking for a picturesque indoor-outdoor venue that is charming and relaxed with plenty of space to utilise.

Styling tips…

Make the most of the outdoors and set a single banquet table that stretches across Hayfield’s stunning pastures, illuminated by hanging lanterns or festoon bulbs strung from above. Ground your styling in organic detail – think rambling florals and natural textures offset with elegant glassware
