Behind The Brand
What draws you to wedding photography?
I’ve been drawn to art, light and expression for as long I can remember. Growing up and throughout my adolescence, my parents took me with them on their travels and I often found myself studying light, people and connections. As my sense of self developed, I became inspired by the effortless style in the places I visited and would swoon at the subtle interactions between people I saw.
Now, I find myself romanticizing reality, simplicity, and intimacy. I’ve learned that beauty exists in honesty, connections are safest when uninterrupted, and my couples trust me to tell their story truthfully and beautifully.
I love photographing weddings because the emotions pouring out of them are honest and heartfelt. I adore seeing two people completely wrapped up in a moment and pride myself on capturing the small but significant exchanges that would otherwise go unseen. An eye for detail draws my gaze towards intimate human connection: the way hands fall together, fleeting glances across the room and vulnerability in all forms.
I don’t take the opportunity to document connection lightly. Not just the romance between a couple, but family bonds and friendships too. Typically, a wedding day is the chance to spend time with every significant person in your life – it’s a symbol of togetherness, history in the making. I feel really honored to encapsulate the human existence and tell stories that will be seen and heard by generations to come.
How would you describe your photography style?
Over the past 10 years of being a wedding photographer, I have developed my signature-style to be artfully romantic, editorial and poetically timeless. I am a relaxed, warm and friendly person in nature, so I always bring this with me in my approach to each wedding. Whenever my camera is in my hand, I am constantly observing the way light falls and allowing moments to play out in front of me, photographing stories in a journalistic way. It’s a balance between being unobtrusive, while also providing gentle guidance to ease my couples into frames that feel real, intimate and effortless.
What inspires you creatively?
Lately, I’ve been inspired by film photography. Rediscovering film has made me fall in love with photography all over again. It’s a slower, more thoughtful approach to photography. It requires closer observation and extra attention to detail. Beyond the challenge of aligning the elements: lighting, angles, aperture, shutter speed and composition – manual film photography demands a sharper sense of creativity. Shooting film on your wedding day allows the opportunity for you, as a couple, and me, as the photographer, to pause intentionally and breathe thoroughly. We move into a space that’s a little more subtle and gentle. I love the essence of romance that comes with being still.
What is it that makes an image magical?
I think photography should make you feel something. Emotion, usually combined with all the elements of that make a interesting photograph – composition, lighting, timing.
What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?
Find a portfolio of work you love and book someone you trust. I think choosing vendors who understand you and your vision is really important. Along with valuing their craft, you need to trust that on your wedding day, they will become an extension of you. My role goes beyond documenting your day, I want to make sure you feel relaxed and don’t have to worry. Trust that you’re in safe hands.
