About ManiSol Wedding

ManiSol Wedding is a photography and videography collective founded by Alba Renna and Selene Pozzer, lead videographer and photographer, respectively. Counting now nine photographers and videographers, this all-female team has been working all around Italy and the world specializing in the field of destination weddings. A deep love and knowledge of Italy, together with an international approach and an eye to the newest sources of inspiration, makes each member of this team strive to offer the best couple's experience.

What draws you to wedding photography & videography?

We obviously love photography and cinematography per se, but our passion for wedding photography and videography, specifically, comes from a place of connection, which is crucial to what we do. Being specialized in the destination wedding industry, we get to connect with couples from completely different backgrounds, stories, ethnicities, sexualities, religions, and cultures. This is extremely enriching for us – being able to know and bear witness to those life stories, and open the door for them to meet ours.

Ultimately, we find ourselves in such diverse situations while being there to tell a universal story, a universal feeling, all the different shades of love. We are there to capture the raw essence of those universal emotions, and that to us matters infinitely more than the most luxurious venues and fabulous decor.

How would you describe your photography/videography style?

From the beginning of our work together, we have described our style in the words of John Keats – “Truth is Beauty, Beauty Truth” – and that piece of poetry perfectly sums up our vision. We are always observant of trends, fashion, and the latest inspiration, but our goal is to create a photography and videography recollection of our couples’ day that is simply timeless, beautiful today as it can be in twenty years’ time.

Using more common terms, we’d say documentary but with a strong editorial touch – real moments, real emotions, but captured focusing on the beauty of it all.

What inspires you creatively?

Naturally, we gather inspiration from art, cinema, classic photography, fashion, from being Italian and being constantly surrounded by beauty – it definitely helped create our aesthetic sense. However, our biggest source of inspiration is our couples, their stories, their sense of style, their movements, all of the things that make them “them”. We can say that connection is our biggest source of inspiration.

What is it that makes an image magical?

Pretty much the answer above. Obviously, the right scenery, right clothes, light, “beauties” are important and are a part of a beautiful image – but what makes the difference is the connection that we capture between the people, and between the people and us. Creating a magical image is a collective effort, a game we play together with our subjects, creating a somehow magical atmosphere that pushes us to create.

What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer/videographer?

Clearly, the first thing is to look at several complete works – the portfolio, featured stories, or Instagram page is definitely not enough – and make sure you find someone who you can feel represented by (this is one of the reasons we value inclusivity so much, for example). Then, once you have found the style you like, make sure to have a conversation with the photographers and videographers: finding someone you feel comfortable with, and that you can instantly trust, is fundamental for such delicate work.

Your dream location to shoot a wedding?

Bluntly we’d say: any new, cool place where we haven’t worked yet! To give some places – saying it out loud so that we can make it come true – we are in love with Tonnara di Scopello in Sicily, Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, and La Foce in Tuscany and we’d be extra thrilled to work there.
