Behind The Brand

How would you describe your videography style?

Candid, unobtrusive & genuine.

I’m quite a gentle and laid-back person in most aspects of life, so naturally I’ve adopted more of a moment-based approach when it comes to filming weddings.

My approach is continuously evolving through all of my experiences, which is reflected in my work. My films are raw, personal and emotive – and I want my couples to relive those feelings whenever they watch their film back.

At the end of the day, my couples feel a level of comfort with me that allows me to infuse their unique personalities into each film. I work in the most intimate environment, so I want to create an experience that will last forever, by forming a genuine connection with each couple before their special day. I don’t want to stay stagnant, which is why I take a candid approach that allows me to capture things in the most honest way possible.

What is it that makes a wedding film magical?

Storytelling is the key. The most important thing is that each of my films represent the couple and their unique love story.

It’s a symbiotic relationship. Don’t get me wrong, every wedding is magical in its own way, but without a delicate and genuine storyline woven throughout, you’re just watching a collection of beautiful shots with a nice soundtrack.

I try to encourage each of my couples to take the time to properly consider what they value and find most important on their wedding day. The return from investing so much time before their wedding into understanding the story of who they are is really significant, and it lays the foundation to emphasise a deeper storyline that can be re-lived for years to come.

On the day, I’m a bit of a softy. The kind of person that sheds a tear at the sight of crying, or gets goosebumps during the first dance. Naturally, I’m there to record your special day but honestly, I’d consider myself more of a trusted friend on the day – someone given the honour of capturing your story.

How do you select music to accompany your footage?

It may sound like I’m entertaining a cliche here, but I don’t like to make any promises or put pressure on the soundtrack prior to a wedding. I let the day dictate my soundtrack — from the emotional intimacy that plays an integral part of a wedding day, to how the couple interacts with one another. There are so many uncontrollable factors on a wedding day that it wouldn’t make sense to plan ahead.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

A big yes to both! It’s a privilege for me to be able to capture a place through a lens of authenticity and storytelling. I was fortunate enough to begin my filmmaking career overseas and have since added a few stamps to my passport, so paying homage to that is a familiar nostalgia for me.

Moving into the future, the opportunity to work with couples around the world would be a privilege and something I look forward to.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to editing, and I prefer to take as long as is required.  It’s important that each film I produce has its own personality, uniqueness and reflects the couples’ day accordingly – which takes time. I also personally work on every project myself.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve captured…

I have a moment caught on film which answers this question better than I ever could! It was a couple of mine entering their reception, dancing like crazy, confetti showering from the roof etc. For me personally, this moment was absolutely magical as there was so much energy in the room and the couple completely let loose.
