About Mary Stuart Flowers
Kim Delgado is the founder and Creative Director of Mary Stuart Flowers - a floral design studio devoted to honoring the restorative rhythm of nature. Rooted in the use of local, seasonal, and sustainably grown blooms, each arrangement becomes part of your love story – a natural, visual thread that ties the moment to its time and place.
Weddings are Kim's passion because they bring people together with open hearts and open arms, ready to embrace the beauty of the day. Flowers, too, respond to this spirit of celebration, offering their most vibrant and joyful performance when treated with care and intention. Her goal is to create designs that feel alive, effortless, and deeply connected to the emotions of the occasion.
Behind The Brand
What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?
My love for flowers began in childhood, watching my grandmother, Pat, create beautiful arrangements for the Boston Flower Show using Queen Anne’s Lace, salmon-colored geraniums, and roses from her garden. Her hands seemed to place each stem exactly where it belonged, giving every flower its own space to breathe. It looked effortless to me, though I know now how much skill it truly required.
It wasn’t until years later that I found the courage to start Mary Stuart Flowers. During the pandemic, I longed for beauty and comfort in my life, so, as I often do, I turned to my garden. A few lucky connections and the power of word of mouth turned that personal solace into a blossoming business. I still keep those memories of my grandmother – and especially her hands, so relaxed and intentional – close to my heart as I design. For me, it’s essential that my arrangements feel natural, relaxed, and just a little wild.
What services do you offer couples?
I offer a deeply collaborative and personal experience to every couple I work with. My services range from complete event design to partnering with professional wedding planners to bring their vision to life.
When couples hire me for full aesthetic design, we work together to choose every element, from linens and candles to tablescapes and, of course, flowers. For those working with planners, I align closely with their vision to ensure the flowers complement the overall design seamlessly.
At the core of everything I do is the desire to connect deeply with my couples and for them to feel connected to their flowers.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
My designs are layered, romantic, and artful. Using exclusively local, seasonal, and sustainably grown flowers and foliage, I create arrangements with a natural softness and intriguing, gestural texture. The goal is always to honor the ephemeral beauty of each bloom while crafting designs that feel alive and evocative.
As a florist, what are you inspired by at the moment in the world of weddings?
I’m deeply inspired by the growing trend of smaller, more intimate receptions that feel like dinner parties rather than traditional wedding receptions. These gatherings foster intentional, warm experiences for guests, aligning perfectly with my own goals as a designer. Smaller celebrations allow for thoughtful details and meaningful designs that reflect the couple’s unique relationship – not just with each other but with their loved ones. It’s a joy to work on these intentional and deeply personal moments.
What would you like to see less of?
I believe the most memorable weddings are authentic and true to the couple. When that’s achieved, guests feel it immediately, making excessive signage or large banners unnecessary. These elements can create a sense of formality or separation when the goal is to craft an inclusive, celebratory experience. Instead, I’d love to see more weddings where the design naturally welcomes guests into a shared story, creating an instant sense of connection.
A styling/planning tip or two you’ve learned along the way that you’d give to any couple?
Trust me. My greatest joy comes from getting to know my couples and understanding their stories, dreams, and emotions. This connection directly informs my floral designs. If my work has drawn you to me, trusting my process is the best way to ensure flowers that truly move you on your wedding day.
Go with your heart. If there’s a particular element you’ve always envisioned for your wedding, let me know. Understanding what matters most to you helps me work within your investment parameters to bring those ideas to life in meaningful, impactful ways.
