Behind The Brand
What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?
It was 2013, and Maria’s life seemed meticulously planned: marriage, a house loan, children, and a secure accounting job. However, amidst this structured life, Maria felt a void: her heart yearned for creative expression. As a Pisces with an innate curiosity for the world, she discovered her calling in flowers—a medium imperfect yet perfect for her boundless imagination.
With a life-changing move to Australia in 2013, she embarked on a journey of merging her love for florals and design. Today, Marypoppies represents more than a business; it embodies Maria’s fusion of natural elements, human emotion, and enriching travel experiences. Her mission: to offer beauty and a uniquely curated vision to all who encounter her work.
What services do you offer couples?
We provide tailored floral design services, guiding couples from initial inspiration to flawless execution on their wedding day. Collaborating closely with couples, planners, and stylists, we ensure each arrangement reflects their unique vision – harmony throughout the venue and decor is our ultimate goal.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
Sculptural, romantic, and boldly minimalistic – our aesthetic exudes an air of effortless minimalism. In our approach, minimalism embodies curated refinement. It’s not about scarcity but rather about abundance in thought and creativity. It’s finding the perfect balance between restraint and impact, resulting in decor that is both understated and unforgettable.
As a florist, what are you inspired by at the moment in the world of weddings?
The fashion runways serve as a primary inspiration, influencing our designs through textiles, shapes, and colors. Additionally, both historical and contemporary architecture play pivotal roles in shaping our aesthetic. We draw from the structural elements and aesthetic principles of architecture, whether it’s the grandeur of historic landmarks or the sleek lines of modern buildings.
What would you like to see less of?
Buttonholes, corsages, and flower jewelry (we might regret saying this hihi).
A styling/planning tip or two you’ve learned along the way that you’d give to any couple?
Stay true to yourselves: let your wedding reflect your essence in the most profound way. Then, venture slightly beyond your comfort zone trusting your vendors and their artistry – that’s where the magic happens.
