About Mas Palou

Mas Palou, our family's home for over 20 generations, is where ancient and modern converge. Situated in the heart of the Penedès Wine Region, just 40 minutes south from Barcelona airport, our organic wine estate is where we nurture our vineyards and craft natural wines and extra virgin olive oil. Alongside our agricultural endeavors, we welcome a select number of weddings each year, alongside hosting our annual artist residency and monthly wine & book club. We take pride in preserving this estate sustainably with the most authentic Mediterranean lifestyle while extending warm hospitality to all who visit.

Behind The Brand Interview

What was the initial spark for the property and how did it all begin?

Mas Palou has been part of our family for centuries, its roots stretching back to the 14th century. Through generations, we’ve nurtured the land, primarily focusing on vineyards and olive groves. In the recent past, Santiago and Adelina, recognizing the changing times, decided to renovate two guesthouses for short stays, a pioneering move in our region.

Their daughters, Maria and Anna, grew up in this environment, fostering a love for hospitality. As social media amplified our narrative, they noticed an increasing interest in hosting events, particularly weddings. Maria now manages events, while Anna leads the wine growing and making efforts. Together, they oversee various cultural initiatives, including the Mas Palou Art Residency and a monthly wine and book club, all rooted in our commitment to sustainability, warm hospitality, and embodying the authentic Mediterranean way of life.

What spaces do you offer for a wedding or event?

Mas Palou offers a range of versatile spaces ideal for weddings and events. The patio boasts stunning vineyard views on one side and a historic façade on the other, providing shade for afternoon events. Adjacent to the outdoor dancefloor is a welcoming porch.

Across from the cellar lies a spacious Mediterranean courtyard, perfect for larger receptions. Nestled within the estate is a historic chapel from 1623, suitable for both religious and civil ceremonies.

The garden on the lower deck provides a serene setting for ceremonies and cocktails, while nearby, a swimming pool offers a refreshing backdrop against the vineyards and rolling hills.

For a romantic ambiance, guests can enjoy our secluded pool surrounded by wisteria for ceremonies and cocktails. Indoors, our historic cellar from 1872 boasts enormous ceilings and an enchanting atmosphere, lending a touch of magic to any event. Guests can savor the unique experience of enjoying wines and olive oil from the very vineyards and olive groves that envelop our organic estate, all lovingly handmade by us.

How many guests can you cater for?

We have the capability to cater for events ranging from intimate gatherings of two to larger celebrations of up to 150 people. Whether it’s a cozy elopement or a grand affair, we ensure that each event at Mas Palou receives our utmost attention to detail and personalized service.

What is it that makes your property magic?

What makes our property truly magical is its authenticity. Mas Palou is not just a historic gem; it’s a living testament to generations of family who have inhabited and cultivated this land. Visitors can feel the palpable love and dedication infused into every corner, all while maintaining a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

Our decision to host only a select number of events each year is driven by our desire to preserve the integrity of this place, allowing us to pursue various projects such as winemaking, olive oil production, and the arts.

What advice can you give couples when selecting their venue?

To us it’s important to select a place that reflects one’s values and priorities. Consider not only the venue’s aesthetics but also its ethos and philosophy. Does it align with the experience you envision for your wedding? Beyond the surface, think about sustainability practices, community engagement, and cultural significance.

Your venue choice can also make a statement. It reflects where you invest your resources and support. By selecting businesses and organizations that align with your values, you can make a positive impact.

Convenience is also key. Opting for a venue not too far from the airport and close to towns where guests can stay and other wedding events can take place can simplify logistics. Additionally, the ability for the couple and their party to stay on-site adds to the convenience and comfort of the celebration.
