Behind The Brand
What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?
Our founder, Matthew, knew he wanted to redefine wedding planning from what he had experienced, to change the stigma of stress and drama associated with it, to a journey full of fun and excitement. It is with this that Matthew Oliver Weddings was founded, where connection and joy are the main pillars of the planning journey, with a huge heap of experience and creativity thrown in!
What services do you offer couples?
We provide the only service you should ever need… planning your wedding! We want to work with you to ensure a seamless cohesion between days, to have a clear oversight of each and every aspect, so nothing falls between the cracks and you and your guests are looked after at every moment. This way you can all live in the moment, stress free and loving every second.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
Each and every wedding is a clean slate, working with the beauty of the location, looking at the couples personalities and injecting design and flair in the right places to create something truly unique and unforgettable.
As a planner or stylist, what are you inspired by at the moment in the world of weddings?
Sustainability is one of the core values of Matthew Oliver Weddings, looking at more ecologically conscious ways to do things and incorporating them into designs that look like they belong in the spaces we are creating them. We are also inspired by bringing these spaces to life with immersive entertainment which creates the most incredible atmosphere.
What would you like to see less of?
Often people feel compelled to follow traditions, even if they wouldn’t choose to have them. We are a huge advocate of having something part of your day because you want to do it. Be unique, be unusual, have fun and be yourself! It’s your wedding, no-one else’s.
A styling/planning tip or two you’ve learned along the way that you’d give to any couple?
As important as the details are, and trust us we love a detail, your guests aren’t likely to remember the cutlery you had at your wedding dinner, but they will remember how they felt, whether overcome with emotion at the ceremony, content and comforted during dinner or filled with joy on the dance floor. All of these atmospheric moments can be created and influenced mainly through the lighting and sound, if done right each and every moment can have the perfect feel and add to creating those perfect memories.
