About Mercedes Pérez
I am a photographer crafting heirloom imagery where documentary truth meets timeless elegance. A serendipitous encounter with my father’s camera led me to leave my Advertising career behind, forging a path through self-taught mastery and a pioneering fashion blog (2009). Since 2012, I’ve dedicated myself to weddings, transforming raw emotion into visual legacies that transcend generations.
My work, featured in Vogue, ICON El País, and AD Spain, reflects a belief in photography as a vessel for human connection. Leading an intimate team of four, we prioritize artistry over volume—fewer dates, deeper focus. We create not photographs, but enduring stories.
Behind The Brand
What draws you to wedding photography?
Weddings are where humanity’s rawest emotions collide with timeless beauty. I’m drawn to the privilege of crafting visual heirlooms—images that become family treasures, whispered across generations. A wedding isn’t just a day; it’s the first chapter of a legacy, and I’m humbled to translate its heartbeat into art.
How would you describe your photography style?
A dance between documentary truth and editorial elegance. I seek the unscripted moments—the trembling hands, the stolen glances—but frame them with a fashion photographer’s eye for light and composition.
What inspires you creatively?
Cinema is my compass. I’m drawn to directors who treat visuals as emotional language: David Lynch’s surreal symbolism, Almodóvar or Xavier Dolan’s chromatic storytelling, Sofia Coppola’s delicate femininity, and the way Woody Allen films New York in the most perfect black and white. Classical art fuels me equally: Rembrandt’s chiaroscuro and the sinuous anatomy of classic marble sculptures. But my deepest inspiration is rooted in Córdoba—specifically, my grandfather’s legacy. A pharmacist by trade and a photographer by soul, he documented everything: from Spanish Civil War fragments to family portraits bathed in the golden decay of time. His negatives (which I’m now digitizing) and handwritten notes, are my north star. They taught me that photography isn’t about capturing moments, but safeguarding souls.
And always, music—the invisible thread that weaves it all together. Music is my silent collaborator, turning the mundane into the magical.
What is it that makes an image magical?
When it transcends the visual and becomes a feeling. Magic lives in the tension between perfection and imperfection—a bride’s laugh that crinkles her nose, rain-soaked confetti clinging to a groom’s jacket. It’s not about flawless poses, but the soul that leaks through the cracks.
What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?
Choose someone who sees your story, not just your aesthetic. Review some of you’re photographer galleries, not just highlights. Ask: “Do these images make me feel?” Trust chemistry over trends—your photographer should be a calm, intuitive presence, like a friend who happens to have a sublime artistic eye.
Your dream location to shoot a wedding?
A crumbling Italian palazzo at golden hour, where Renaissance frescoes meet wild ivy. Or a minimalist cliffside ceremony in Iceland, with the North Sea as the only guest. But truthfully? Any place where love feels alive—like a crowded Madrid tavern with generations dancing till dawn.
Editor’s Notes
Why we love it…
Rich palettes and blurred black and whites emerge as if from a painting. Mercedes’ images are vessels of memory, layered with nuance and steeped in atmosphere. She sees beyond surface beauty, leaning into the imperfect, the fleeting, and the quietly monumental. With a background shaped by fashion, classical art, and her grandfather’s preserved negatives, Mercedes creates work that is both soul-stirring and stylistically refined.
For the couple…
For the romantics who want images that sway with tension and tenderness, moody lighting, thoughtful composition, and an evocative air of nostalgia, Mercedes Pérez is your perfect match.
