Modern Romantics is an Australian-based wedding photography studio founded in 2014 by Creative Director, Raquelle Loraine. This husband and wife team is perfect for modern couples in search of elevated, contemporary photographs.

Inspired by the notion that every love story should be told through a timeless lens, finding the beauty in genuine moments from an editorial perspective, yielding frames that hold the power to transport you back to that very place in time.

Behind The Brand

What draws you to wedding photography?

It’s the ability to document and create powerful images filled with love and emotion which is a dream come true. Knowing just how important these images become as the years pass is one of the driving factors of being a wedding photographer and still draws me in every time I pick up my camera.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style combines photojournalism with editorial beauty. I’m always looking for genuine moments captured in an artistic way, delivered in a clean aesthetic.

Drawing on my experience in cinema, I aim to convey motion and emotion, and really tell a couple’s story through my photographs. I am particularly drawn to blending modern elegance with the timeless qualities of classic imagery, producing work that endures.

What inspires you creatively?

I find inspiration in a wide range of sources, from cinema to fashion and interior design. I love delving into old photographs, and books, and discovering new artwork to fuel my creativity.

For me, the most captivating aspect of photography is the ability to capture and preserve human connections. I find the transience of fleeting moments to be incredibly powerful, and I am deeply fascinated by the process of transforming these moments into something tangible that can be cherished forever.

What is it that makes an image magical?

When I am able to capture moments that evoke feelings of joy and happiness. It’s often those in-between images that complete the story that is especially meaningful for me.

Curating a gallery that beautifully represents a couple’s wedding day is a powerful experience for me as their photographer. I can transport the viewer back to the magic of the day itself which I find so rewarding.

What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?

Search for a photographer whose work resonates with you, and whose images reflect the vision you have for your wedding day.

Once you find that photographer, trust them to bring your own vision to life through their lens. Allow them to create something special and unique for you, drawing on their artistic talents and expertise to capture the moments that matter most.

Your dream location to shoot a wedding?

While documenting a wedding in Europe is a dream of mine, there is one location that stands out above all others – Positano, Italy. The breathtaking beauty of Positano, its stunning vistas, and cobble streets, would make the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable wedding.
